I understand that the goods to follow list is for goods jot yet with you but my question is, if I was to land first and my kids and spouse will follow do I need to include the things they will bring when they land in my list of goods to follow? Like their clothes, toys, shoes?

Bec, if this is so then it will be diff to list all the clothes shoes my spouse and kids will bring?

Can somebody comment on this specially those who did not land together.

Thanks.

No. Your dependants can bring their own lists.

Also, you shouldn't "overthink" this. Clothes & toys do not need to be listed item by item! Example: "X boxes clothes, approximate value Y$"; " X boxes children's toys, approx. Value Y$".

Hi! Advice needed Please :)

I have 4 kids aged 11, 8, 5 and 5 currently studying in Saudi Arabia.

I have got the PR last year and plan to move permanently to Canada next year.

Do i need to get the school clearance certificates attested from any authority like Ministry of foreign affairs or any embassy.

If my kids leave the school in the middle of the term than in which grade will they be admitted. Will it be the same grade or will it be according to their ages at the time of admission.

Thanx

Where (Which province) will you be living in Canada? Are your children currently studying in English?

No, you don't need to get school certificates attested by local government.

You should contact the school board or school, in the area you will live in in Canada to find out the requirements to admit your children.

Friends,

We planned to land Toronto in Dec 2015. People say it's the first priority for newcomers. But my wife is pregnant now for 3 months and expect to deliver in May 2016. If we land in Toronto then need to wait 3 months for health insurance ie. till end of March 2016 and during that time we have to bear all the check-up cost that I really have no idea how much.

Any experts here can advise how much it will cost for pregnancy check up while we are waiting for health insurance? Or we should choose other provinces with shorter waiting time like Calgary or Manitoba that I heard can get immediate health insurance?

Good day!
Hi Rogery,
Congrats and good luck with pregnancy. This is correct that in Ontario you don't have OHIP coverage for first three months and you have to bear the medical expenses if any. But for pregnant ladies there are many organizations which provide medical coverage within the waiting period free of cost. These are very comprehensive services include consultations, investigating tests, referring to specialist and every thing. So no need to worry in this regard not even a little bit.
So answer to your question, if you go through right channel then there is no medical expense for pregnancy situation during waiting period. Should you go to some other provinces, I think no. It will be nice to have OHIP coverage from day one but selection of province to land should purely be based on job prospects and ease of settlement, not based on who provides health coverage a few weeks earlier, your wife will be covered anyways for the pregnancy related matters.
Hope it helps. If you need to know any thing privately you're most welcome to send me a private message.

Hi,

I am landing first and spouse and kids will follow. We have property that we want to sell but don't know when it can be sold. My question is do I have to put in goods to follow say "proceeds from sale of property" or not?

We will not bring the title to Canada so that. I'm confused since we.will definitely be bringing in unsure amount once the property is sold in unknown future.

Can you help out. Thanks

Statement of funds from banks outside Canada is not acceptable as POF at landing. POF has to be in Canadian dollars. You may carry cash in CAD (Not above 10k) rest in traveller cheques or demand draft or can choose Scotia Bank start right program for new comers ( check for Scotia Bank Branch in your country. )

i would disagree.

PoF should be equivalent to the required CAD amount, but there is not restriction such that the funds have to be in canadian dollars. USD, British pounds, euros, austrailian dollars...any currency that can be converted in a canadian bank will serve the purpose.

You can carry cash above 10k if you wish. there is no restriction in canada for the amount of cash brought by a landed immigrant. The requirement is to "declare" funds equal to/or more than 10k..it doesn't mean you're not allowed to exceed that amount.

I agree.

Also a bank statement with immediately accessible funds *is* accepted. Frequently.
