Search the forum, I remember someone in this situation who was told the car could not be brought in tax free from the US as they had not owned it for 6 months.

Somewhat recollect what was said, the 6 month rule is for returning PR and is waived off for 1st timers. Does that ring a bell?

There are quite a few apartment blocks in that area where you can rent and it has a major bus station with GO connections. Walmart is in the shopping mall.

Yep, but someone actually faced this when trying to import a new car from US.

Unfortunately what is written and what the CBSA follow is not always the same. That is why we use this forum (for personal experiences) 8)

If you are planning on booking a hotel for the first few days, then first option should be to ask them for an airport pickup (they may or may not charge for this).

Secondly there is no direct bus route from inside the airport to square one mall. You don't want any bus transfers if you are carrying heavy luggage.

Best option would be to rent a car, or contact a private service (or individual) that offers airport pick and drop.
