Pretty much. The officer will even tell you, "Welcome to Canada. Now take these papers to that desk over there to register for a SIN number"
And that is exactly what the officer in Terminal 3 didn't say. ;D ;D He did send me through to collect a "Welcome to Canada" pack from a little office next to Immigration, so he wasn't being forgetful.

My wife is coming by herself. She is not bringing a lot of stuff with her but some clothing, a laptop and some Jewelery. There will be no 'Goods to Follow' list either.

So, is it OK for her to fill out an Excel sheet titled 'PERSONAL EFFECTS ACCOUNTING DOCUMENT' by herself without using the B4 Form?

I am also looking for similar info; should I carry an excel sheet with all the details? As I have heard that there is limited space to fill particulars on B4 form.

My wife's luggage (which was within normal baggage allowances), included a laptop, jewelry, and clothing. She didn't not complete any special form (B4 or other), just the customs declaration given out on the plane. We/she did not see a Service Canada counter there either but were not looking for one. We went the next day to a local one.

My wife had a B4 form but it wasn't really needed. The customs official was most interested in if she has over $10000 CDN in her and if there were any goods to follow. When she answered "No" to both, he quickly glanced at the B4 form and then gave it back and let us through.

She's carrying any precious jewelry or not?

My wife will be bringing in jewelary ornaments that she got as gift in her wedding. So, the only major item in the 'Personal Effects Accounting Document'that I asked her to prepare using Excel, will include this item plus a laptop, 2 watches and of course her clothings.

I think it is a good idea to have the immigration officer put a stamp on this document so that, there is no problem in the future about those jewelary. My only question is: Will this self-prepared Excel sheet is OK?

Can anyone please advise, as a new immigrant, when completing the Customs Declaration Card in the Plane, whether Part B (Visitor) or Part C (resident) should be filled out?

Confusion about Part C is it has a question: Date left Canada....... As a new immigrant, should this space be left blank if Part C is the correct Part to be completed in the Form?

You are not a resident of Canada until you officially land. So I would guess that you would fill out Part B.

A B4 is not mandatory. If there is not much to declare, I would imagine an excel sheet is fine.

You are NOT a resident yet, fill out the "Visitors" section. (Don't complete Part C).
