Thank Amikety

I'm referring to first time PR card application. Is it safe to land in Canada for the first time, and leave without actually receiving it.
You'll will need to do one of two things - either apply for Travel Documents to return to Canada or use a friend/relatives address for landing and have them mail you the PR card.

If you're visa exempt, you may be able to get away with not doing either, but if you require a visa, you will need the TD just to get on a flight back to Canada.

Well, my new landlord took possession today. She wants to raise my rent $350 per month. My husband is furious!

We have until Nov 1st to find a new place. Wish me luck :)

If anyone has any knowledge of a place for rent, please let me know. We are two adults, no kids, and 1 indoor only cat who is litter trained. My husband works full time at a steady job (been there since 2006) and I have good references from a former landlord. Anywhere NE/SE is okay, some areas of SW too, but NW is too far for my husband's job.

Thanks!

Oh that's too much. It looks that flooding is now impacting the existing tenants since demand has increased. We are also looking for a place near downtown currently in suites in Victoria Park. We are a family of four. A couple and two kids aging 5 and 3. I know you have plenty of knowledge about good communities. Please share your expertise with us and we will also do.

Well the husband and I have talked it over. We're going to start looking at places this week. We will see about getting a roommate or two. We've found houses for rent with 3 bedrooms for the price others are renting 1 bedroom basement suites for. I've asked my husband if we can move back to the SE/NE because the prices are better and there's better diversity in those areas.

Have a look in Martindale, Falconridge, and Whitehorn. I've seen some decent places for rent at decent prices.

Hello folks, I just landed in Calgary a few days ago, I have done SIN registration and now need to do Alberta health insurance. I have bed to the registry and they are requesting a utility bill which I don't have. Can someone direct me on how to go about this, with or without the utility bill?

Regards

They are looking for proof of residence in Calgary. Are you staying at a hotel or do you have a place to live yet? If you have a place, take the lease with you - that's what I had to do.

It sounds like your registry agent may be new, uninformed, or lazy. Try a different worker or a different office.

My new house. We move at the end of the month. For party games, you can help me move my furniture!

OHHHHH!

Well I believe, you would certainly agree with me .Nowadays its very very hard to find an affordable renting place in Calgary.Infact, its easier to buy than to rent a property.Same thing happened to us last month and finally ,we ended up buying one instead of renting.Surprisingly a single family home in SW is costing us less per month as compared to rent a townhouse in the same quadrant.

In my view, one s best bet could be to subscribe through rentfaster, kijiji, rentboard etc and immediately receive listings when they are posted .In that way you could have a chance to see the place physically(if you are lucky enough to get the previlage of visiting the place :)).I noticed that if you call after one day of the posted listing, you never get a chance to visit the property.

Last month ,I visited a property in Silverado (townhouse with 1600$ rent excluding any utilities). The owner mentioned to me that he was showing me the property as I was the first one to inquire .Afterwards he received around 300 inquiries and he is flooded with telephone calls. It might seem unrealistic to others than Calgarians, but its true.
