I been told that if you have big money in Canada then you loose benifits.
But honestly it only applies if you dont want to work and looking for all type of support including cheap or free housing etc etc.
if you coming here to work then it doesent matter how much you got in bank.

I been told in past about some of people who lives in CALGARY HOUSING houses who charge just 30% from your income for a house rent if you are in liw income and there one clause was that you shouldnt have more then 7000 $ in hand.

I do apply for that and they reply me that first you got enough saving. Second your job is good so it wont suits you .

Thanks Aquib. Yes we are coming Canada to work...can you please also reply my money transfer question.

This mostly refers to welfare, which a newly landed FSW isn't eligible for.

If you don't claim the money, even in the UK for anything, including housing subsidy and child benefits, and the government finds out, you could get into a lot of trouble. They will demand their money back, may fine you, or may charge you with fraud. Not really worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for your reply.

Has anyone used money tranfered services like MoneyCorp or Hifx to tranfer money from UK to Canada? Please share your experience.

Hi ,
I didnt use money crop.

I bring some Cad $ on Thomas cook master card.
Currently i transfer money online from my barclay uk account online to my canada bank account.
That way it cost me £10 plus $ 15. But i get good rate. Much better than moneycrop and western union.
Other option was CAD $ DD if you bringing it with you.

I mean UK bank charge £ 10. But Ca bank also charge $ 15 for receiving fund. Its sucks.

I do not think you could use bank statement as POF
it should be Cash, DD, TC, any or in combination of them

Alberta Healthcare is available as soon as you sign up as long as you move from an international destination. But you have to sign up first. So does this asap. It's easy and only takes a few minutes. If you need your healthcare number right away, sometimes they can process it while you wait - about 20 extra minutes. (You should call ahead to make sure they have a special employee on duty to do it.)

Hi Aquib,

Have you received your PR card yet?

If so, how long did it take?
