Hi Aquib,
Hope all goes well with your wife's delivery. Just need to know is Alberta's Health Care Program Cover all the Costs of delivery? My wife shall have 34 weeks when we shall come to Canada and due in February end. My first baby was born through surgery but would that be on Normal on the 2nd one?
Please let me know as I need to decide whether I should go to ON or AB.
Regards

Hi bro.
here Alberta health card cover everything like - dr appoinment , women clinic appoinment , Nurse appoinment , Hospital delivery/Labour ward expenses. All medicine during delivery and in hospital , all blood/urine tests etc.
It wont cover - Ambulance cost , Medicine cost pre and post delivery .
I recommend you buy/bring any antibiotics you feel you may need, also lot of Paracetomal 500 MG , Ibuprofin 400 mg tabs , vitamins , Vitamin D 400 iu drops for baby and other under 6 child , Vitamins D 1000 iu tab for u and your wife . Iron tab for your wife after delivery . These tabs cost me approx over 100 $ here .
Also bring express milk / breast pump , nipple cream ( Lanoline) etc if you think you may need them here, as thosr are unnesessary expensive here .
If you apply for GST , Low income card etc fairly quickly then you will get covered for medicine , dental and ambulance etc. but i dont know much about that and nor I applied for those yet for ourself . As I disclosed our original income for last year which was much over $45000 hence i was classed as above low income , but If anyone declaring last year overseas income 5000 or 50000 , ca govt will never cross check or ask for paperwork in first year for landed immigrant.
Sometime i do feel that wouldnt it be better if i just declare my last year income as under 25000$ , i would be better off. But allah knows best .
As much I know Ontario got 90 days weight period and BC got 2-3 month weight period.
Qubec do got Weight period but for pregnant lady they cover from first day.
Not 100% sure but manitoba , Sktchwan also cover from first day .
They say if you land and get free medical / Maternity benifits etc in one state and then move to other prov before 6 month then they will follow you , but I feel 90% chance they they dont even bother where you going unless to go and tell them that you land Alberta just for medical benifits. But trust me once you stayed couple of month in Albetra , you wont feel like to go to Ontario (unless you got very close family ties there). You will come across many Ontarians who moved to Ab and after listning there experience you will prefer staying here .
Its 2:07 am here and I am half sleeping and wants to take couple of hour nap before my baby wakes up . So good nite friends and please forgive if I am not replying your ques / PM on time .
