Hi All,
Finally I have landed at Niagara rainbow bridge last saturday. I want to share my experience hoping that it will help some of you guys. This blog helped me a lot in getting my PR, I have learned a lot of things and received best suggestions from the senior members of this blog I am very much thankful to all of you.
Canada-USA:
1. I have reached Niagara at around 12 AM. Opposit the hard rock cafe there is a pedestrian walk way to go to the rainbow bridge. follow the signs and get into the entrance.
2. To cross the bridge, I had to put two quarters in the machine to allow me to go through and then followed the signs for pedestrian way to US, Walked across the bridge enjoying the great view of Niagara falls from the bridge.
3. After crossing the bridge, everybody has to get into an entrance room and wait. There is a sign on the door saying that " Wait for officer to call you and then pull the door and get inside".
4. I have waited there for 10 minutes and an officer called me. I have told the young officer that I am here for landing and the he asked a senior officer " Do they have to come all the way long for flag polling?" and the senior officer goes "since they get here, let them wait for an hour or two".
I was shocked how careless he was, but the young officer was nice he said I will take care of it.
5. He asked us to wait go and wait in another waiting room where few people are already waiting. He took our passports and got us a letter, at the bottom of the letter there is a big bold heading "Flag polling". He gave us the letter and escorted us to the rainbow bridge again. fortunately all this took about 15 mins.
US-Canada and landing:
1. Walked back to the canada border in the same way. At the entrance there was a canadian CBSA officer who wished us and I told him that we are here for landing. He gave us an yellow color slip and directed us to a building.
2. An officer took our passports, copr, flagpole letter and yellow slip and told us that people have been waiting from 8 hours. That was disappointing but decided to wait.
3.There were around 5 people waiting for landing and few others have been waiting for visa. After me, a family arrived for landing with two little kids they asked a CBSA officer "do we have to wait for 9 hours?" and the officer seriously replied " you have to wait if you want to land". Then the couple decided to go back and land on some other time. Then officer officer told to all of us " There are so many port entries you guys can land, I dont know why All the people come to rainbow bridge" and few pople said "we like Rainbow
".
4. After an hour of waiting, I finally I got my turn, he asked us couple of questions like when did you come to canada etc. and then congratulated us on becoming residents and briefed us about PR and citizenship rules. He said that pr card will arrive in two months
