Re: Landing Experience @ Rainbow bridge

I landed two weekends ago, and it was verrry smooth. I got to the border around 8:30am, there was virtually no traffic.

I went across the bridge to the US, the official was very pleasant. He informed me where to turn around. I did not get given any official (acceptance or refusal) documentation.

Coming back into Canada, once again I was greeted by a very pleasant border agent. He asked me what seemed to be 6 or 7 standardized questions. I had to park and go inside the agency building. I was greeted by another officer who asked me for my COPR and something with my current address on it. I provided a utility bill. He went through some checks and I was out of there before I finished my game of Candy Crush!

I was told me PR card would arrive in roughly 6 weeks, and I was free to leave the country if I wanted.

Hello Everyone!
I completed my landing yesterday at Rainbow bridge. I carried the following documents for the same:
1. CoPR
2. Passport
3. Pay stubs
4. Work permit
5. Passport size photos

Here's what I learned from my landing experience. Since it is the border and we are just flag polling, we are low priority for CBSA. So if you decide to do this during peak hours (like I foolishly did) you will be waiting for a very long time (easily more than 3-4 hours) to complete the landing formalities. I waited for nearly 4 1/2 hours to finish mine. I think the best time to go is early in the morning or after 10 PM (non peak hours).
I just walked the bridge and walked back. I did go to the USA side, had US border police stamp my passport (they didn't provide a slip as I had a valid USA stamp).
The formality in itself is really quick and simple (just the wait which is super long). CBSA officer asks you a couple of questions and informs you on how to maintain your PR status and about citizenship requirements.
And after that - voila! you are a PR ;D

If you have any questions, please post them here on the forum.

Cheers! :)
