Landing date question

Hi,

I have a copy of my traveller history report from the CBSA. The report is complete - it has all my entries into Canada and all the dates are correct and matches my records except one: my landing date; it's one day off.

I was already in Canada on a work permit before I became a permanent resident. When I received my PR documents, I just went to the border to land. I believe they call this flag polling?

Basically, using made up dates, if my landing date was 11 NOV 2011,
- my COPR says I became a PR on 11 NOV 2011 (the date was written by the officer at the POE)
- the entry stamp on my passport has 11 NOV 2011 (the COPR number is written below the stamp too)
- when I got my PR card, it had 13 NOV 2011 as the "PR Since" date. I called CIC and they told me to send my original COPR and a certified copy of my passport to their Query Response Centre. After several months, they sent me a letter and the original COPR back. The letter states that it was a "data entry error" on their part and confirms that my permanent residence date is 11 NOV 2011
- they reissued the PR card with the correct date of 11 NOV 2011
- the CBSA report has no entry for 11 NOV 2011. Instead, it has 12 NOV 2011 (1 day later)

Initially, I thought I'd just leave things as is (i.e., not requesting a correction to my traveller history report) but I'm getting a little worried now that I have mailed my citizenship application. I did not declare this "absence" (11 NOV 2011) on the residence calculator since it's a "day trip" and I did not leave/enter the country on 12 NOV 2011.

Is this something that I should be concerned about?

Thanks!

Since your passport stamp and COPR have same date, you will be fine. Don't worry about this much. Normally at test when CIC officer check dates they match application date with passport stamp. in this regard you will be fine.

Don't worry. Use the landing date that's on your PR card. As per flag polling, it's not really leaving the country or going anywhere as you turn back on the border. So, no need to list it. That's how we landed too. I didn't put it in our calculators either as we didn't go anywhere. Good luck! :)

When I landed, in very similar circumstances to settleincanada, I actually crossed into the US to get some gas - hey, 10 bucks saved is 10 bucks earned :) That's probably not flag polling, strictly speaking.

Despite what the instructions say, I think it's a good idea to list day trips. I had several stamps from day trips that became an issue and led to my getting the RQ Lite, Form CIT 0520. In your case, that day trip happened to be when you landed, and you've already listed that date in a different place in your application. That CBSA got the wrong date is something you'll be able to explain rather easily in the circumstances.

Just curious, when you wrote that the CBSA report was very complete, were (the majority) of these entries land crossings?

You should list day trips, I agree. :) But, we never made a trip. Good luck! :)

Well, my PR landing was actually my one and only land entry into Canada ever. All my other entries are by plane. The report reflected that accurately :)

That trip was also my only "day trip" out of Canada.

Thanks. I was asking because CBSA reports are notoriously unreliable/incomplete when it comes to land crossings.
