Really, I am wondering how they got their 'landing appointment' before the updated DL arrived in the mail. The former takes significantly longer than the latter. (That's a rhetorical 'wonder', am not asking for an explanation.)

I am in Law School with an "A" GPA....I was taught the correct history in Scotland about the English by a Scottish European Member of Parliament and history prof...it was just amazing how the actual truth of the empire building of the English has been drastically distorted in the Canadian education system including what you have learned about Queen Victoria......take a history course in Scotland and they will provide you with many documents that prove the dishonesty of the English...including the 1705 Act of Union, among thousands of others. I will see if Quebec is corrupt with my own eyes...from what I have experienced here in Ottawa...200 Catherines Steet is corrupt! I would advise all prospective immigrants to choose a different location than Ottawa to immigrate to.

If you have a straight A student in law you would know not to throw around accusations of corruption.

I thought people were silly for mentioning Hitler (incidentally 80 years not 60) but the flippant comments about renouncing citizenship and now this anti English comments switching between current state (What is so wrong with England or the UK?) and very distant historical conflicts, are just taking it to another level.

Hi here in Canada we have freedom of speech and we are not watched over by the nanny state as you have been so despite the fact I am in Law School....I am still a student and I can exercise my freedom of speech a little more freely than if I were already a licensed lawyer..I see you are immigrating into Canada from England....is it that bad then there? oh and you know Hughie too? nice guy hey? Actually I have now decided that it is better to stand up and fight them....no I will be keeping my Canadian Citizenship just so I can do that...from what I have studied about Canadian politics the Pierre Elliot Trudeau era was a very good one for Canada. Canada was number 1 or 2 in the entire world at that time...the country was flourishing....I think that Trudeau did a good job...perhaps his son Justin has inherited some of his father's political genes and it would be an improvement for Canada to vote the liberals in power and have Justin Trudeau at the head...Canada is now only the 20th best country in the world to live in and it has remarkably regressed during the conservative regime, as you all know. Well the next election is October 14th , 2015. I know who I will be voting for!

You don't have to be a genius to study law. The profession most politicians come from is law.

Yes you were taught English history from a Scotsman who's country was invaded and annexed by England. He of course would not have any biased influence on English history. What exactly does he know of Canadian history?

On the landing appointment invitation letter I wasn't even asked to their office, let alone what type of ID I should bring.

Whilst I appreciate the comfort many people get from venting on this forum...myself included...it is taking it too far when comments are both offensive and, unfortunately, inaccurate.

As far as the Acts of Union between England and Scotland go, they were signed into law in 1706 and 1707. The Scottish themselves sought political union with the English as a result of the financial disaster brought about by the Darrien disaster in Panama. There are two sides to every coin.

Secondly, it should be noted, particularly for people who work for the Government and should really know this, that 'North American Indian' is not appropriate terminology for the Indigenous Peoples of Canada. Even the Canadian Government's outdated terminology merely refers to Indians, and then, only in certain cases.
