I wasn't a Canadian and was just an idiot like everyone here, had hopes and expectations in Canada in terms of justice, transparency, and compassion, until CIC turned me into one of the thousands of "Forgotten Buffalo" victims, just google "Forgotten Buffalo Applicants" or "Buffalo Limbo" and you'll see. After 12 months of desperate and hopeless wait, I had no complaint any more. You Canadians listen up, Canada is no longer a country it used to be... and the lesson you should learn from CIC is that, in this country when someone slams your face hard, you should apologize for hurting his palm. Forget about democracy, just be like an immigrant, be a coward, and be safe.

A friendly reminder to Dorothea and the folks in this forum who are unhappy with CIC: Stop posting bad comments on this government, don't you think they will check this forum and track your IP address and find your identity? You will then be in big troubles!

No question that the closure of VO's has had a negative impact on applicants but 12 months is the new norm. My application took 13.

I do feel terrible for those who are in limbo, I hope they apply again and get through quickly. However, if the government even cared to read here (THEY DON'T BY THE WAY!) they would have knocked on my door several times.

While I agree that Canada has gone down the toilet (I am Canadian btw) 12 months is NOTHING. I started LAUGHING at that. Some people way YEARS. Suck it up buttercup. Immigration is not for the weak or the whiny.

I actually meant an extra 12 months of wait apart from the officially posted processing time, just to get a simple passport request, and the reason was simply because I applied too early (in 2011). If I had applied a year later just like you, it would have been processed much earlier. You can image how the 10,000 Forgotten Buffalo folks including myself felt, when you see people applied a year later than you already got the PR Cards and started their new lives, while you don't even get an email reply from CIC. Given the fact how unfair and cruel this Ministry has treated the Buffalo transferees, it's logical and reasonable to deduce the possibility of this forum being searched in the future, and people like you who trust the government doesn't retaliate and don't know how to shut up, will be tracked and identified, having your citizenship revoked according to some new immigration acts and regulations. You Canadians, take my word as an advice so you'll be safe in this new Canada.

Did you ever take the initiative and email/call CIC yourself? It sounds like you just sat on your ass and waited.

I just found this thread which is very interesting. Can someone confirm whether I am able to flagpole at the US/Canada border since I applied outland but currently reside in Canada. My documents were sent to the Kingston, Jamaica office and awaiting the return of my passport. Or do I have to call CIC and have them make an appointment for me at the nearest local CIC office?

Upon approval of a permanent resident (PR) application where the applicant has legal status in Canada, the visa office forwards the CoPR document, IMM 5688, and the passport containing the visa counterfoil, if required, to the applicant's address in Canada. The applicant has the option to contact an inland CIC to arrange landing (OB 076) or they may finalize processing at a port of entry if they are exempt from the visa counterfoil requirement (OB 348) or if they have a permanent resident visa counterfoil in their passport.

Horse of a different colour, you applied "out of Canada" so you can flagpole or make an appointment, your choice.
