I am planning to land and come right back to the US.I understand that at the Immigration office the officer will ask you whether you are planning to stay and depending upon what I say ( in my case I will say that I 'm coming back after 6 months) he will ask for my address where the PR card will arrive.
Here I cannot say I am coming back later but this is my friend's/relative address and could my card be sent there.I have read in many posts here that in such a case the officer says apply for card once you come back. I want to enter canada with the PR card next time.
Please advice how can I get the officer to note the address of my friend or can I change the address
through online later on.

Thanks.

Tell them you will be staying at your friends address and give them that address. You don't have to tell them that you will be leaving right away if they don't ask. If they do ask, you should tell them the truth but that means they might decide to hold your PR card until you come back.

I have read in some forums that if travelling by air the IO do not care to check (?) or let's say they are not able to know if you are actually going to stay or return back after a few days.So it's easy to get them to apply for the PR card.
Whereas, if we are driving a rental car with not much luggage they know for sure that you are turning back and not staying( even if u say I am going to stay) and may use this to determine if they should apply for the PR card or not.
This sounds logical to me though.
Can anyone correct me on this? How does one convince the IO to apply for the card? If we are going by car can I say the principal appliocant will stay and the dependent( spouse ) will return back..with the car?

we made landing today through Rainbow Bridge an Niagara Falls. we had a rented car, and they never asked us about if we stay permanent or not. we were given landing papers right away and were told that PR will arrive in 4 to 6 weeks.

thank you. Karlshammar.

I have two more questions, if you do not mind: 1. where I can find Confirmation of Residence Number and 2. Record of Landing Number?

They are the same thing (the COPR used to be called a Record of Landing up until the early 2000s). It is in the top right corner of your COPR, after "DOC NO:" T followed by a series of numbers.

thank you, I understand it better now! :) I also read in one thread on this site that it's possible to check on-line status of PC card mailing, but I am just not sure which information to enter on ecas. do you have any ideas about it?

It will show you the same information regardless of which information you enter: as long it's correct and you're in, you will see all information available under that person's name.

I don't think it shows information on PR card mailing for initial landings. It does say on the CIC website that you can check status for initial PR cards, but that is not my experience, but then again I have only landed once. :) Has anyone else noticed anything differently?

Hi All

new here in this Fourm, hope some one help me with that,

I am planning to land on 15 Jan 2010 ...Calgary .. and then leaving for US to see my Mom
as my understanding that its ok to travel back to canada by car ? or would that be a problem ??

I have stated in my application that I will be living in Calgary but does it matter that where I am landing ?? could it be any other city or do I have to land in AB as stated ?

also the second question is .....can I give my mailing adress in Toronto for my PR card ?

any one's help please would be nice :)

there's no problem to travel to the US and returning back to Canada by car.
you can land in any province or city, if you land in Toronto for example there will be no problem for you to give them Toronto address for mailing your PR card.
