I am planning to land alone, and look for job and make necessary arrangements then after call my wife and son. But, I am confused about the money to show Immigration officer at the time of landing. Is I have to show proof of funds for 3 members ($16,580) or 1($10,833) person. Please share your suggestions.

Thank you….

hello,
what province are you planning to land at?

Yes, for 3 members.

actually I haven't heard that one should show proof of funds while landing. maybe for FSW. even if it's required, I don't think you need to show the proof of funds for all members as you are landing alone, without dependents.

I didn't know that. does it work for sponsored spouses too?

Yes, I am principle FSW applicant and planning to land at Toronto in Jan\Feb 2010. Different opinions made me more confuse; expert’s advice please.

on this link they mention about proof of funds:

http://www.settlement.org/sys/faqs_detail.asp?k=LAND_LAND&faq_id=4000602

but not much. you also can try to call the Canada Border Services Agency or Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to get the proper answer.

as for me I would suggest to get a proof of funds for all family members - this way you will not need to worry at all.

Perfect answer. Take that bank statement, lest u r in trouble / denied entry.

Spousal sponsorships do not require proof of funds as there is no income or funds requirement.

I have heard that there _may_ be requirements if you are also sponsoring dependent children, or if you are going to Quebec as a spouse, but neither of these situations applied to me so someone else who is more knowledgeable here will have to chip in with the correct information.

by 'if you are also sponsoring dependent children' you mean me, or my sponsor-husband? he signed the agreement that he will support us a number of years. do we still need a proof of funds with us?

From what I understand the proof of funds is for when you apply for sponsorship, and once sponsorship has been approved, you are set. So there should be no requirement for sponsored immigrants to bring proof of funds.

I know with 100% certainty that a sponsored spouse with no children has no funds requirements, period. I'm very confident of what I said above for those with dependent children, but if someone could confirm, it'd be great. :)

Proof of funds are ask if you are in the process of sponsorship to show that you are capable to support yourself as well as your dependents.
At the airport they will ask you how much money you have upon landing, not the prrof of funds coz there are certain limit on cash that should be carried that is 10K dollar and you should disclose it to IO if you carried more than that amount. It is not a required Proof of fund.

thank you for your replies. I was wondering what could work as a proof of funds, if my husband needs to get statements from his bank or something with us. but it looks like we do not need it, I feel much better about it.
