We landed last week (6/15) at Pearson. It was so easy. I am a returning citizen and I sponsored him out of country. They let us go in together and he was only asked why the US had sent him back to Mexico (my husband was out of status in the US), he answered "because they made me" and then they just filled out his paperwork and that was it. Then when we went with our luggage to give in our B forms they waved us through. So it took about 15 minutes altogether.
I had been told that it would be impossible to sponsor him for residency since he was an illegal in the US but it was not an issue. We were completely honest on the paperwork and disclosed everything. Plus, we had to go through Guatemala which is one of the slowest in the Americas but it only took 8 months from start to finish.
So here we are starting a new life in Alberta!
