Depends on where you want to stay, we are currently staying in Downtown which is obviously higher but a short walk to everything.

SIN and OHIP experience

Just wanted to continue with a short post on my SIN experience.

I went to City Hall and the SIN process was extremely smooth. We were asked what we wanted to do and directed to a rep who took 5 minutes and asked us to confirm spelling of our name.

He wanted us to confirm our mailing address and printed out a letter with our numbers on it.

That's it short and sweet we walked in and walked out in 5 minutes


For the OHIP though its a longer and incomplete story

We are in the process of renting a place and since the landlord lives overseas the documents are all faxed copies, the OHIP office will not accept these and so we came back and were told to wait for our Bank or utility bill statement as proof.


Will post more as things move.

Could you please give us the true IT picture in terms of jobs?
How hard or easy to get a IT job?
What are the prospectus?

I will be frank, I am trying to get my company to transfer me here as they have a branch. Prior to landing it was super difficult to get someone to respond and most said that you should land before applying.

I am hoping that the transfer is appealing otherwise I will start looking for a job. Your best bet is looking at a site like http://www.indeed.ca to know job openings.

I can post more as I restart my job hunting. There are a lot of IT companies in Toronto though so if you keep the faith you can make it here.
