Oh boy!!!
That was a smart one by your father am sure the man had an inclination that someday this would count and now it's counting!!!

I know a lot of our people won't consider this obviously because of our Nigeria mentality but we must all know that Canadians dont think like us hence we need to start changing our mind set. I just hope we would get many more responses

Good morning to everybody in the house. I have been reading lots of interesting
comments from landed Naija. I have a family of five and just got my VISA. I have a little
problem related to flight, the cost of transporting every everybody in the family is around
1.7million naira on KLM and Lufthansa (too much!). A brother from canada called me just a few minutes
ago that I can get ticket from Government and that on the form giving to me along with
the VISA there was a place there where I can buy ticket, I could not find this. Please advice
me on the prefered airline especially as regards cost and booking. I am heading to calgary.
Thanks.

Congratulations to you and your family Imole!!!

Try google IOM(International Organisation for Migration) they will normally
get a 40% discount on any price on your behalf. I am using them from here
in UK. You can contact Niga branch.

God bless

Hi ,are you leaving from Nigeria ? Cos its cheaper to go via emirates ,emirates is just 260k ,lufthansa 350k , KLM 360k all in naira.Another thing u have to consider is the transit time lufthansa and emirates has a higher transit time ,while KLM is the lowest.Transit point for lufthansa is frankfurt , emirates is Dubai ,while klm is Amsterdam .So its left for you to choose

Women can drive articulated vehicles in mine field and construction site. After all what a man can do a woman can do better :P :P :P :P

Hi Mayoress, if your wife can quickly learn hair dressing/weaving (especially the Braided hair), that can be a source of income (tax-free) at home.

@ EMO, don't try me o. I used to drive my dad's lorry and forklift when I was younger now. Infact if I fit get dat kind driving work with good pay for canada, I go jump at it.

@OOW4CHRIST, thanks a lot. Will start that asap. Considering learning tailoring too abi na fashion designing

Hello EMO, the number you gave us appears not to be complete. I don't know if you can help check the number again. I am also interested in IOM assistance as I have a big family too and it's likely to take me over a million naira. Please help check the number again. The number did not go through.

I truly appreciate everyone on this landed naija thread and our sister thread. You guyz are doing a wonderful job. Please lets keep up the good works as we all share a common dream of having a better future for ourselves and kids out there.

Please i like to know if there is any HRM professional in d house or anyone wanting to start a career in the field. If so, is there any certified body here in naija for HRM that is also recognised in canada? I like to get a certification in the field while waiting for the maple leaf. I would be going on study leave at my place of work by september and wanted to go for a masters degree program here in naija but my friend in canada says its waste of time as our degrees aint really recognised over there. So she suggested i do a certification instead.

Thanks for your time and responses. Na calgary we plan to land sha.

@ Mayoress, learning how to make hair or sew clothes is a good trade to learn. Hair especially cos it's really expensive here.

@gel003, doing a masters in HRM there will be a waste truly cos it is not really recognized here.
