Momoh J I know of Alayo, he landed in Sept you could send him a pm and if I can I would try and get his email and pm you so you could send him a mail. As per comparison I guess from the internet the major difference is Edmonton is Colder than Calgary but if weather is not a Major factor you might ignore that variable.

You could Pm Gent 2, VOA, Jackson Jada these are people in Calgary and would have better insights, you can also pm Barsindo am sure he has stayed in Alberta enough to help you out. PM would yeild faster response from landed seniors so try that option.

Thank you Tinuade, i really appreciate your input. I will definitely contact those you mentioned here and if you can get hold of their email as you said, will be glad. Wifey said i should send her regards to you!

It is true that the temp can vary widely in Calgary but the only thing one can do is dress to be on the safe side. I go out before 7am everyday when it is really really cold and I dress to keep warm. By evening when I'm returning home,I'm carrying my coat because it's not so cold anymore and you'll see others doing same.

Would you rather freeze because you don't want to look like Michelin man? :o Don't be worried about the kids, they'll adjust faster than you sef. Just dress them warm and there are lots of warm clothes here.

@ VincentCal, welcome to Calgary but cold never start yet ;D That initial snow was like fluke. Glad you are settling in fast.

Hi everybody,
It's good to see activities on this thread. I'm also in Calgary and want to use this opportunity to say 'ekule' to all landed seniors. As far as I'm concerned, this city is really very cold. As they now saying the cold has not started, i beg pple that are coming shld carry all the Iros, the Bubas, the Agbadas and be ready to spend money buying thick, thick socks, boots, sweaters and jackets. I beg I no scare you o, na true talk be dat.

Thanks for the advise. I will like you to put general prices of stuffs here. E.g Hand glove $0.00? Head warmer-0.00? Winter Jacket for Male/Female S/M/L/XL $0.00?

Thanks

Please what is the difference between Canada Goose Jacket and North Face jackets? I saw these 2 names on another thread and I tried to check the prices online it was crazy!!!! I saw a range of between $500-1000 for the Goose and between$300-500 for the North Face please does it mean once you were these jackets you won't feel the old at all? Why are they so expensive?

For someone like me landing in Ontario which one is most suitable? Your opinions are welcome as anything that will help me cope with the cold would be an added advantage lol!!!

i think the question can be directed to qorax, barsindo, pa righ, de jackson.u may give them personal message.

Don't bother yourself about names. You just need something to keep you warm.
Get whatever you can in Nigeria. On arrival, you can get a very good jacket less than $100.
Look at it this way: If you are coming around March, the weather is not very harsh at that time. So people don't buy jackets any more. Stores try to sell their jackets at ridiculously low prices because nobody is actually buying them and they need to create space for new stocks because of the changing weather.

In any case, do what you can do in Nigeria and get to Canada to do what you need to do in Canada.

Best wishes

Thanks Shalom1.

I was just wondering if these jackets perform miracles considering the price!!!!!!! anyways i would heed your advice, get whatever i can, land and if necessary buy any of these two brand. How is the family doing? warm regards to them all.

@ Tinuadebola, please go to Mark Work Wear House when you land and spend some good money on Winter clothes and boots. Due to the seasons, the clothes rest during warmer seasons and they last longer. All the best
