Hi friends finally we landed day before yesterday in Calgary via Toronto route . Officers didn't ask me proof of fund , list of goods and any other things . Got sin card number within 5 min there in Toronto ,but card will b delivered later , PR card also will be delivered within 6 weeks . Got bank account opened , got SIM card , applied for health card , have got appointment on Monday to discuss about my child's schooling . Thanks all again

I heard Calgary is so beautiful a place but the costliest, any specific reason why you chose this place !

hi guys i will be landing calgary first week october.do we need to declare the jewelry that we will be carrying or can just wear jewellery and avoid declaration.and if we do declare it how do we do that.also is there any custom on money and jewelry that we carry. i will apperciate your help

If you will be bringing more jewelry later on, you need to declare them, you will use form B4 I think its called, if all the jewelry is wearable then
no need to declare them

No, on the first landing, there are no taxes, just declaration

the pics you should carry if you will be bringing any jewelry on a later trip, if nothing, then no need to carry any pics.

it can be either one, but do remember, the draft may take some time (weeks) to cash, its always a good idea
to carry some cash along for the immediate needs, like Qorax once suggested the 80/20 rule, 80% TC/Draft + 20% Cash of your settlement funds

Thank u all . Sorry was little bit busy as I stared a job after 5th day of landing plus started a college at the mean time i.e Iam working 40 hours a week and studying 20 hrs of a week , life again has become busy and of course interesting . My 5.5 year son has started a school ( actually we enrolled at the same day , son in school n dad in college ) my wife has also got job but hasn't started yet , hopefully will start within 1-2 days . Got health card after 5 days but have to wait few weeks for PR card . Am staying in friend's house but will move to my place on 1st oct , have found a very gud house to live at $1000 plus 3 bed rooms . My job is about 15 min walk , college is 6 min from bus station n son's school is about 8 min walk so everything is ok so far. I chose calgary coz its a rapidly developing country that's what my friends had told me and yes it is . I had many friends in Toronto n Edmonton but was only one friend in Calgary who proved one helpful friend is better than 1000 of hello- hi friends . People are very good here everything is ok here but we need canadin qualification to get gud job . My present job is not bad though I get $17 per hour . Welcome to Calgary whoever want to come here and thanks all of u.
