Hello landed immigrants,

Pls share the info regarding receiving of PR card? Pls inform, how many days it takes to receive your PR card.

Thanks & regards
ARJO

yes it can take 4 to 6 weeks from the day of landing...but sometimes and now adays most common thing is that they just send the PR for all family members except one member and got objection on example there must be some problem in pic so they request to come at their immigration office downtown and complete requirment the they again give 4 to 6 week for PR....something like this can also be happen...there are possibilities for this...

Hi Rocky, Qorax and others who have alreday landed

I want to know that whether it's necessary for us to carry International License from India with us or the old license and a certificate from DTO office will do. I have enquired from DTO offie and they have informed me that they will keep my old license with them and issue me a new International License which will be valid for one year. Please advise me what to do?

Regards.

An IDP/IDL is just an explanation of your [current] driving license. Without that driving license the IDP/IDL is 'invalid'. No Motor Transport Office/Road Transport Authority withholds the driving license for issuing the IDP/IDL.

The stories have me quite worried.

5 years down the line I could well end up depressed and hopeless.

Its a challenge and I can only hope that I will face it as a new immigrant.

Thnx for the info. In that case, shall I retain my old license and get a certificate from DTO office saying that it is valid and genuine? Will that be sufficient?

Sanjeev.

That'll be sufficient for applying for a Canadian DL, without the mandatory wait period. But, it won't allow u to drive a rented veh here. For driving till u obtain a Canadian DL, u must have an IDP/IDL.

Do not get International Driving Licence it is not valid in India but will let you drive only for 3 months. I suggest keep you old license and get a letter from DTO along with that it must be dated and should not be more than 60 days old.
