Hi, I've been a landed immigrant since 1997 and never applied for citizenship. Actually the last time i left Canada was in 1999 and have been in Canada studying and working the whole time.
The reason i never applied is because I had some personal matters in my home country that i needed to take care off and i'm now ready to apply for citizenship in Canada.
My question is that my passport expired 5 yrs ago and i never renewed it because i never needed to so I'm wondering if that would cause a problem and if i should just renew my passport first and then apply for citizenship? I have no plans of traveling anytime soon so i don't really need a passport right now.
Any help would be appreciated. I also work for a the government-not sure if that would make things easier for me.
