So, I need someone to talk me down out the trees.

When my husband and I originally applied for my PR the processing times shown on the CIC website were a lot lower than they are now, and I'm starting to really panic!

At first it was 10 months, then it was 13 months, and now its 16 months!!!

I'm putting my whole life on hold while my application processes because I'm staying in Quebec with my hubby on a visitor's visa, and I'm starting to not be able to breathe!

I know that I'm a US citizen, and that our story and everything is more than clear and believable but still... 16 months... wow.

I can't really leave Canada without risking being denied upon re-entry, so that means 16 months of no home visits, no serious vacations, and no sleep!

Ugh. This is horrible. I hate those who scammed the CIC and made them come up with these laws and regulations.

Well, I know it could be worse but I'm to the point where I'm not finding that much comfort from that anymore. I just want to go to school and learn french! :p

And what do you mean they're out of hand?

Hey! I completely understand your situation. I'm in a similar situation too. When I applied to New Delhi, processing time was 8 months and now it's gone up to 10 months and to make matters worse, New Delhi has my passport since October and they cannot say for sure when they will give it back! My husband and I have been apart over 5 months now.

I think as a US citizen, you can indeed leave Canada and you will be allowed inside. You have an outland application so you are free to go wherever you wish. If you were inland, then yes, you would have to stay in Canada.

As a US citizen, you may be able to work or study, though I'm not too sure.

There's always a solution to the problem, but from my experience, when you are in the middle of the chaos, it's difficult to see a way out.

Don't worry. You'll get thru soon! We'll all collective send angry vibes to the scamsters.

i know what you must be going through its so annoying and frustrating, and the most annoying part is they even wont respond to any emails...
am in the same boat with you, except my application is in its final stages and now they decided to keep quiet...

LA visa office sent me a ppr email (passport request) while i was out of Canada so i sent them my passport right away and they received it on jan 11/2013 but trust me since then they have not sent it back to my address in Canada and have not responded to me or my lawyers emails.. but will keep hoping for the best out of them...coz all that matters is that you one day get it and forget about ever having to go through this process again.

so just try to relax do other things make the best out of this time and in no time u will see yourself at the end of the process in most cases if your application is straight forward it may way less than the posted time like 6months to 10months mine took 7mths and they sent me a passport request which is taking so so long since Jan 11/ wen they received it, but atleast am grateful am at the end of the process...

so just be patient its a very painful process and much much more worth it.. good luck
