I became Canadian Citizen on May 28th.
Thanks for sharing all your experiences. Those definitely helped me to be ready for the test and etc.

I have a question for you (and others who had ceremony in Kitchener). I knew that they only allow one guest per family, and that you could have a relative or friend looking after your child if they are too young to stay through the entire ceremony. The question is, how long is the ceremony starting from the time they asked you to be there (9:45)? And, during the ceremony is there a break or could you bring your child to someone in the waiting area in the middle of it and come back to complete the ceremony? Will be helpful if anyone can share their experiences, thanks!

The ceremony procedure starts at 9.45 am and lasts less than 2 hours (we have completed everything in 1 and 1/2 hours). There is no break during the process and in the process "you" are not allowed to leave the ceremony hall unless it is really urgent (that's what Clerk said). You can bring someone to take care of your child and Clerk and Judge were very flexible and even asked parents with small kids to move around with the kids if they are restless and make them feel comfortable first. They can allow approximately up to 20-25 guests in total as the ceremony hall is small. On my oath ceremony day there are definitely <20 guests as I have seen couple of empty guest seats. So definitely you can bring one guest with you and they always give priority to the guests of the family with kids. I hope this info helps.

Hi Forumites,
I am from Cambridge and i will be applying for Citizenship in the month of June 2018.
I use to follow this forum when i applied for PR way back in 2013-2014 and now i am back for Citizenship process. I will be requiring your support and guidance for the same.

To Start up with do we need to fill the cit0002e-2 form and attach the necessary supporting documents? Is that correct?

I am from Guelph. Applied Citizenship for myself.
My citizenship application status does not change for long time. It shows like:

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on February 19, 2018.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on March 15, 2018

Any idea where are other and which date application they are processing now in Kitchener? TIA

I agree with you zardoz, they were very accommodating with people, explained processes well and took the time needed.

Some people had to come back later in the day with their COPR - good that they allowed that. Apparently the reason is that the document isn't required in the application, and not mentioned in the list of things to bring.

One concern that I had was being asked to sign the bottom of a page without seeing what was above it (apparently I'm not allowed to see it). That seemed not-quite-right, although I had little choice but to do so.

We were also told that July was the most likely time, and I shared some unavailability dates, so suspect they'll push us to later on, but we'll see.

The original document in the case I was referring to was actually one of those originally sent as a copy. They allowed the applicant to go and fetch it.

The COPR thing was new but I was well prepared and had taken a whole bag of supporting docs, just in case, so I had it with me.

Yeah, the "sign the bottom of a page without seeing what was above it" wasn't going to happen. I read (scanned over) the whole thing before I signed. Apparently, what you are signing is a small subsection of the page, and not the whole document. It's not an area for serious concern but anyone used to signing serious official/government legal documents would view it with suspicion.
