Hey SQ! That's great, that means KG has placed your file on the system.

I have been watching to see if the implementation of the new GCMS system would mean that at least applications would show some sort of progression via eCAS, meaning that instead of having us waiting around to maybe get an AOR, KG would update the system to show when they receive files and at least we would have that much to hold on to. It appears they are doing so, as you have gotten an update like this so close to your approval as sponsor, instead of all these steps being put on eCAS 6 or 7 months down the road when they begin processing. Hopefully they keep it up!

In recognition of this, I think KG deserves a HUZZAH and SQ gets an update!

Yaaay...now just hoping it doesnt take half a year to get the next one LOL LOL LOL!!

I keep holding out for the idea that I might, even though I've never had this kinda luck in my life, get to be one of those quick three to five month ones. I always rationalize it in my head. I'm like...ok hubby has a job waiting already, as do I. We've lived together and worked and had a home together with our lil one, our finances are alright, we have a vehicle already and a place to live, lots of letters of support, ironically one or two from friends who work in immigration, but not the department that processes and approves applications, my hubby has funding for school already, and offers to apprentice. I'm like...it seems like the perfect file.

LOL then I realize with a crashing sense of clarity and reality...none of that matters. It means I might better be able to show an IO that our marriage is real and it proves we are both migrating to Canada and have a good situation. But I still have to wait and hope with everyone else. There is no rhyme or reason to this. Many people on here have perfect files, kids together etc and they still waiting like crazy!!

LOL, I hope not too SQ. I tell myself it's important to just go on living our lives, while Immigration does their thing. No matter how great our file might be, or not, they still have their procedures and policies and regulations, and like every government bureaucrat anywhere, the IOs are going to go on about their business as they best interpret those procedures etc. Myself, I am not putting any timeline in my head, whether long or short. It will happen when it happens and not before then, that's how I see it.

I agree CharlieD. Reality is starting to kick in. I started off like a kid on Christmas morning, and these updates were like so overwhelmingly cool to me because it was like...wow we are actually doing this.

But in retrospect...I'm thinking...well if I got a decision made like next month, it would be exciting, but at the same time, there is lots to wrap up in our life in Jamaica. Remember this has been our home since we were married. So a little more time living in Jamaica would not be a bad thing, although ask me on the wrong day and I would tell you differently LOL. We just filed and got used to the idea! So if it happened quick...ok cool, yaay new life! But their is blessing in the waiting time to!! At least in our situation, I know this is not the case for most couples!

I'm content to wait. Lil Maya said something in the other thread that really made sense..that being that many couples recieve little or no update and have no idea whats going on with their files.

I'm thankful to know where mine is at, and thats a good start!

That's so true, SQ! Wrapping up a life of however many years is not an overnight process, and I for one intend to take my time about it, LOL. I have plenty of things already listed on my "to-do" list, and I'm sure between now and whenever more things will need to be thought out. With you and your family, there will be even more things on your list, as you have to get the little one out of school and into a new school, health records, school records, all the things that go with kids. You know what they say, the smaller they are, the more stuff they require for their care and comfort, haha.

good morning everyone!!

wow, we woke up to a wild and crazy thunder storm this morning. They are saying it's going up to 29 today, feeling like 37 yikes!! I hope you all are able to stay cool today!

I'm also thinking of our friends, family, forum members and spouses in JA and praying they are safe! looks like some areas are flooded or have flood warnings.

SQ - congrats on the update...any update is a blessing! That means somebody is working on the file and I was always excited for any news no matter how big or small. So go ahead and be excited for some movement. It's better than not hearing anything at all! yes, the hardest part is not knowing what's going on in KG and where your file is. I was worried for a short time that my hubby's was lost. They didn't update ecas when we were going through the process. KG received my husband's file on Jun 28 but no update until Aug 4 and no AOR until October. It is nerve wracking having no knowledge or control over what goes and no way of finding out. Most people don't hear anything until the PP call. It sucks because you are at their mercy and there's nothing you can do about it. That's government for ya lol They have their processes and procedures and they don't let you know anything until they are good and ready to let you know.

Good morning all. I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday so far.

Seriously, those of us here on the Jamaican side need to consider seriously any travel plans before executing them. Lots of roads are flooded from the continued rains, so be careful if you have to be out there! And remember, just because you crossed a road this morning and it was OK, doesn't mean it will be OK later. The Gorge is now closed, water has hit 9 feet in some places there.

Flash flood warnings are in place for the south coast all the way from St. Thomas to St. Elizabeth! The whole of the island is under a flash flood watch. From the weather channel reports I have seen, the system is supposed to keep affecting the island right through the week. There is also a 40% chance it could develop into a tropical depression, the precursor to a tropical storm. Stay tuned to the weather reports, and remember your preparations for hurricane season if you haven't done them already.

Those of you in Canada in southern ON, stay cool, higher than normal temps are expected today and tomorrow, with the humidex expected to hit 40 tomorrow. (I think I will take the rain, LOL!)
