Good Day
I am new to this process. I sent off my application on Thursday. My friend told me that this is a good place to get support and information.
I have been married now for 4 months. My husband is in Jamaica. I feel so lost i don"t know what to expect from this process.
Can someone advise approximately how long this process takes?

thanks
WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WEDDING.
This process is worth it in the end but it can be stressful at times. At this time its around 10-12 months but some persons- a lucky few process takes shorter than 10 mths. you can view our spread sheet which i will send to you shortly.

this is specific to jamaica family sponsorship. It is created by persons on this site who report their application process from start to finish.

WE ARE FAMILY WHATEVER YOU NEED WE ARE HERE FOR YOU. WE ARE ALL GOING THROUGH THIS TOGETHER.

Thank you

This is defiantly overwhelming it seems like there is no support for people with long distance marriages. Every time someone hears that i married someone in Another country and is sponsoring them to come to Canada I get the story of what happened to there sisters best friend uncles next door neighbor who did the same thing and was used. I am so tired of this.
I stopped telling people i am Married now because of it. It so depressing. I cant wait till my baby is here with me.

In life we all take risks, while what they're saying is true they should learn to butt out and realize that everyone has their choices to make, even if we married someone already with Canadian status anything is bound to happen, don't be ashamed of your decisions, i'm sure that some in my life think this way as well but they know to keep their mouth shut or i would shut it for them (not physically lol) live and let live is my motto, I never expected to be with my husband going on 3 years, i was just on a vacation and we were introduced through mutual friends, started talking with no expectations and boom look where we are, the best man i've been with hands down

I here you on that. My husband and i have been together for 5 and a half years now. I feel like over the last 3 years i spent more time in OCHO RIOS than i have Canada. However there is always the negative people putting in there input. I am not here to prove anything to anyone God knows where my heart is and knows that my husband and I married for love and that's all that matters to me.

Good morning and welcome to the fam! We are in this together and to help one another out. Don't be afraid to ask questions and vent your frustrations because we all know what is like. Congrats on submitting your papers, I remember when we did it was a huge weight off of our shoulders. Your journey is just beginning, there will be good days and bad days but in the end it will all be worth it!

Welcome!!! I can honestly say I felt the same way as you. My dearly departed grandmother, a mighty woman of God, introduced me to my husband and encouraged us as we went through the ups and downs of being in a relationship and more so a long distance one. Leading up to my wedding (4 years later) I had family members, friends and even coworkers approaching me telling me I'm stupid and naive to think marrying my now husband was a good idea. The negativity was there right up to my wedding day and even at the wedding itself. The funniest thing is almost all the family invited to the wedding met him years before- and never had anything bad to say about him. It's a hard process (relationship and immigration) definitely not for the faint at heart (which I tend to be LMBO). Just as another member said any relationship is a risk. So block out the naysayers and haters and go for what is best for you. Decades down the line the same negative people will probably talking about how they always knew you both were meant for each other ;) For me I can only pray and have faith that the Lord will see hubby and I through. The stories the members share here are awesome sources of inspiration and information. I'm sure you'll feel like your at home here.

I have added you to our spreadsheet, if you ever want to check it out and see everyone's progress you can find a link to it in my signature!

Did your husband submit his medical and police check upfront?

Feel free to ask us any questions you might have, and be sure to keep us posted on your progress! :D

It is like a breath of fresh air to see others that are going through the same as me. It gets difficult and lonely sometimes i have many friends who have distance themselves from me. I here the whispers and the snickers from people all the time. But I know that love conquers all. I am not naive not to believe there has been situations that have turned out bad. But not everyone is the same. I hate the stereo type that people put Jamaicans in especially the men as opportunistic and only looking for a way out. I know that life in Jamaica is difficult but it is also a beautiful place and i have not had any negative experiences for the 5 years i have been back and forth there. The negativity i get is from the people here. Its hardest when it comes from my family who knows how long we have been together and know how i ache to be with my husband. But i refuse to let anyone break me. I am Grateful to have been directed to this site and pray that this journey will not be a long one. In the mean time i will continue to visit when i can until my love and I are reunited and can finally start our life here together.

The best friends uncle's next-door neighbor??! I think I know that guy lol

You are among friends here we all have heard the same story one time or another . I just got back from visiting hubby in ochi this past weekend , we are Almost 6 months in and the time feels like it goes so slow while waiting but when we are together time flies . It's encouraging at least to get the support here and get a sense of what is going on with the KVO

Keep strong!!

WooHoo holiday is over, hopefully we'll get some PPR's this week
