hey peeps!

So hubby got a email from CIC around the 18th of March stating he needs to get his medical and pc completed. The problem now, is that his 2 children from his previous relationship also need to get their meds done but won't be travelling with him, so now!!! he has to write a letter with a explanation as to why.

Has anyone been through this similar situation? If so, should the letter be detailed or just a brief paragraph stating the main reason. ???

Hi everybody! Brand new to this board! Glad to read so many posts with so much information! About a month ago I was going to join but then got distracted and thought I had lots of time to chat here. Little background on our sponsorship application for you......

We submitted our application on November 12, it took way more than the 42 days posted on line and I was finally approved on February 13. I started bawling at my desk that day, as most of you know this is a roller coaster ride and it has a huge sack of emotions tied to it! As you read on the website the wait time for processing the permanent resident piece in Kingston states 25 months. So of course I thought we had least one more year to wait.

Now immigration is very confusing at times as online it says one thing and then their actual practices seem to be another. So here is why I need some help from anyone that can provide us a bit of information to this process. Today my husband called March 30 and said the embassy called him and is requesting he mail them his passport. Of course he just said yes and didn't ask any questions!!! Love my man!!! Think he was in shock they were calling do soon! I can not read anywhere online that this is part of the process. I am excited but anxious as have no clue what happens next? There was no email, no you are approved, no questions about when do you want to come to Canada?

Has anyone had this happen before? Do you know what Immigrations next steps may possibly be? Online all I see is medical received but no updates as to this passport request. I am praying someone here can let me know what this means for us. As we all know if I try to contact immigration I may never get through to them! I am assuming they are getting closer to approval, however I am blown away that it is so soon!

If you have any advice or information to share it would be greatly appreciated!
:) ;)
Anxious wife of a dear Jamaican husband who loves to tell her "nuh worry, it's no problem"!!!!!!

Wow!! Lucky u, hope all goes well. #Congrats ;D

Thanks Mrs. B Angel!!! And congrats to you too! That is great news as well.

I do not know much about children in the application as we both do not have any yet. But when my friend sponsored her husband from another Caribbean country, he was requested to do medicals on all four of his children, even though they were not coming up with him, it was in case they wanted to come in the future. I do not know if that helps you or not.

I see we both submitted our applications in November 2014. I think the Canadian Embassy in Kingston is on a roll!!! I am sure everything will work out just fine for you, as everyone says it is just a matter of time. My husband always says nothing happens before the time... however sometimes I want to rush time along quick!!!

:) :)

Yay ! Congrats girl ! So quickkk like this !! Wow this is so nice ! Will add you to the spreadsheet as the winner of the shortest process ! LOLOL So make him send the passport asap! After you will wait maybe 1 or 2 weeks to receive it back ! Can you tell me which province you from! Thanks and congrats again!

Lol... ok I did not even realize till just now that there is an actually spreadsheet!! What a great document!!

So for your data....
Nov 12, 2014 application submitted, February 24, 2015 sponsorship approval (sorry I got that date wrong the first time), ECAS Medical Received, nothing additional requested, passport will be received on April 1, 2015, as it was sent today!!

The best advice I can give anyone is to have your medical and police check done prior to sending in your sponsorship application. I feel it speeded up my application has they had received the medical prior to even begin processing in Kingston. I took a risk that the medical might expire prior to them processing but it was worth it. Our medical and police check were completed back in the middle of September.

Hopefully, it is just smooth sailing from here on out!

I know! Everybody situation is different and I'm just patiently waiting for everything to be completed on my end on "GOOD" terms. My husband has to redo the med and pc since they expired(he did them way ahead of time) and also send in the original marriage certificate and birth certificate.

N e how thanks for the info and keep us updated ;D

Actually as per the check list the medical and police check are to be done and proof of completion sent in with the application. So everyone should have them done prior

Yes that's fine, my husband proposed on Skype and that's what we put on the form. Just include the date you did it and phone records if possible would be great.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you! We both feel like we are flying high! It all seems a little unreal still, as this time has been so fast. I just not believe it. Passport already went in the mail today. I live in Alberta. His medical expires at the end of September, so I am hoping they give him at least 3 months on VISA before it expires, because he needs to get his drivers license this month and I really want him to finish his school that ends in May. We were definitely not expecting this to happen so fast! I still think someone is pulling a prank on me! I have a flight booked to go down last week in May... lol might have to cancel it and make it his flight to come up!

I really do appreciate all the answers to my questions because CIC does not tell you anything at all and also the info they do provide is not the process that is happening!

I understand the feeling!! So since meds has been done in September...his good until September 2015. Keep us posted when the passport is back :)

I second that, why waiting them to request something, it slow down the process for sure. Like the case of Mrs B Angel, she said they received an email to provide meds and pc....if this would have been done from the beginning, probably its a call to request passport he would have received. Don't wait after VO to request things if you want your process to be fast. Well this is my opinion! :)

BTW Mrs B Angel : Yes kids must do the meds even they dont come to Canada. For the letter, I think you should put a lot of details. Explaining properly the situation.

Hi there, I am not sure this will help. But my step children who are not accompanying my husband still had to do the medicals even though they are not coming with him. And before they do the medicals they had to obtain their passports and also pay for the medicals, which is a pain even though they are not coming we had to pay whole bag of $$$.

They take alot of our money.

hope this helps.

MelJam! MY husband had his meds and pc done prior to the application being sent, it expired that's why they requested for him to have them renewed. As for the meds for the children,I know all dependents must get them done, It's the primary caregiver (mother) who refuses to have them completed why my husband have to write a letter, that's why I asked if anyone had
any similar coincidence.

Today for you tomorrow for me, puss and dog don't have the same luck. Everybody situation different, it's not a hurry come up thing for us. Everything will happen on its own time. Not comparing my situation to anybody else.

Thanks!
