Yeahhhhh, i know... i told hubby to do the medical before hand, but he insisted he needed the UCI number first. I told him we needed to send it all together but he's a little hard headed! But hopefully it doesnt slow the process by too much.
For real, I even wondering if they can return package if something like this is missing. I don't know but he should follow the checklist documents. Hes not the immigration office manager, he cant decide this!! lol But well keep us posted cause I do not know anybody as yet who send his package without meds and PC...Good luck ! :)

Wow!! Congrats on getting through so fast!

You won't see anything online about the passport being requested. This is what you will see

Application received
Medical received
In process
And finally decision made

Those are the 4 steps. He needs to send his passport to the high commission in Kingston with a return DHL slip. Once they have issued the visa your Ecas will change to decision made and the passport will be sent back to him. Then it's time to book a flight for him to come home to you!!

Congrats again on the fast processing time
Thank you for your response and kind words. I think I was in so much shock last night that I did not believe that this could be good news! They are so slow to update the information online. What are ecas?

My question is might he still have to have an interview? And when they return the passport with the visa documentation in it , do they not ask you how much time you need to go up? As my husband is still finishing up some schooling and would hope to finish that before he comes. Are there set times lines for the visa that is issued for permanent residence status to Canada, or do we have any say in that part of the process?

I really do appreciate the advice, the wonderful people on this forum are most helpful! I know this application process is not an easy one but coming here gave me hope that it would not take 25 months, that maybe at most just of a year! Now that it has only been four and a half months since I submitted and they want his passport, I am still in shock I think!

Thank you again for your advice and continued support. It is very hard to find information and gain knowledge about this process. I can't be any more thankful for finding this forum!

Hi everybody! Brand new to this board! Glad to read so many posts with so much information! About a month ago I was going to join but then got distracted and thought I had lots of time to chat here. Little background on our sponsorship application for you......

We submitted our application on November 12, it took way more than the 42 days posted on line and I was finally approved on February 13. I started bawling at my desk that day, as most of you know this is a roller coaster ride and it has a huge sack of emotions tied to it! As you read on the website the wait time for processing the permanent resident piece in Kingston states 25 months. So of course I thought we had least one more year to wait.

Now immigration is very confusing at times as online it says one thing and then their actual practices seem to be another. So here is why I need some help from anyone that can provide us a bit of information to this process. Today my husband called March 30 and said the embassy called him and is requesting he mail them his passport. Of course he just said yes and didn't ask any questions!!! Love my man!!! Think he was in shock they were calling do soon! I can not read anywhere online that this is part of the process. I am excited but anxious as have no clue what happens next? There was no email, no you are approved, no questions about when do you want to come to Canada?

Has anyone had this happen before? Do you know what Immigrations next steps may possibly be? Online all I see is medical received but no updates as to this passport request. I am praying someone here can let me know what this means for us. As we all know if I try to contact immigration I may never get through to them! I am assuming they are getting closer to approval, however I am blown away that it is so soon!

If you have any advice or information to share it would be greatly appreciated!
:) ;)
Anxious wife of a dear Jamaican husband who loves to tell her "nuh worry, it's no problem"!!!!!!
Yay ! Congrats girl ! So quickkk like this !! Wow this is so nice ! Will add you to the spreadsheet as the winner of the shortest process ! LOLOL So make him send the passport asap! After you will wait maybe 1 or 2 weeks to receive it back ! Can you tell me which province you from! Thanks and congrats again!

No man no interview, passport requested means hes approved ! When did he did his medicals....ususally he has one year after he did his meds to leave Jamaica. You will see the date on the visa when he will receive his passport back. Yes all the documents are included in the package (COPR = confirmation of permanent residence). He will only have to respond some questions from the immigration officer here in Canada at the airport when he will land. Thats it ! :D

Hello Shortyp200,

I happen to know someone who submitted their application to Mississauga without the medical. When they were approved for their sponsorship, they were asked to get the medical done and to submit it to Kingston. So it was just fine........

Good luck!

They were used to request original of marriage certificate + original of birth certificate right b4 PPR so maybe you should send it. In my case we sent the original of marriage certificate cause we had 3 originals but we sent a color copy of the birth certificate and they never request the original...its always depending on your VO.

and somewhere along the way I have saved IMM5490 which seems very useful to them but isnt found on any check list. oooohhhhhh boy  lol
Thanks in advance

Thank you! yes, just confirmed this by calling the CIC call centre. They said you can send it without medical and PC, and have it done later. that's why the doctor asked my husband for the UCI number as they fill it in and the doctors office sends it straight to Kingston VO. But thanks for making me feel better about it, lol always good to get back up

Are you doing an Outland or Inland Application?
Mine was an Outland and I used "IMM5491" as its the Checklist used for Outland Application, which shows that they require "IMM5490" from the Sponsored Person. "IMM5443" Is the checklist used for Inland Application and doesn't require that form as I'm seeing right now.

Hey MelJam,

My husband and I got married here in Canada, we sent in photocopies of our Marriage certificate.
Does Kingston require an original?

I not sure but when I look at the spreadsheet, I see that Kingston has requested to alot of peoples from 2013 applications the original of certificates including the marriage certificate. But since you got married in here, I don't know if they really need the original.
