Hi everyone,

I have been reading you guys for a little while now and learning more and more about this process. Some stories are a bit scary and others are positive and inspiring. Thank you for sharing.

I submitted our application in September 2014 to Mississauga for sponsorship approval. I got an email October 16th saying that it was approved and had been transferred to Kingston. I follow our application on line on a regular basis but nothing has changed as of yet. I look at the spreadsheet from time to time and I am encouraged when I see the recent trend for the 2014 applications. The total time seems shorter then in previous years. I see applications being processed in 6-7-8-9 months. That is more like it! I can only hope that ours will get done in that time frame. I also know someone in a similar situation as mine who was asked for their passport after 7 months so this is positive.

I am curious to hear from other 2014 applicants in Kingston to find out about their experience so far. Also, any recommendations in terms of do's and don'ts. I sent an email to Kingston a while back with a few questions but no replies from them.......

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome,
will add you to the spreadsheet....
Its not easy to say, its always depending on your case. Some cases were fast tracked cause pregnancy was involved...some other takes forever cause they have to wait for FBI report or ARC or other documents...depending on if your (wife or husband) went to Canada or USA before...also people got their applications forwarded to Port of Spain and this has slow down process for them....Kingston are slow to respond emails, and sometimes they dont respond at all....so you just need to be patient and pray!! Stay positive...always! :) Good luck ! ;)

I am not so familiar with the acronyms (ARC, FIB). I am the sponsor and wife. Our file is clean. I filed myself but consulted with an immigration consultant to make that everything was in order. I am not pregnant, no kids involved at his end. All paperwork required was submitted and fees paid upfront. He has never traveled outside of Jamaica before. I submitted lots of proof: 175 photos, monthly plane tickets, phone bills, emails, etc..... for 1 year and half worth, and a well document love story.

Just hoping for the best. :)

Sounds like you are not going to wait forever then ! :) ARC autorisation return to canada or/and FBI report federal bureau of investigation (USA) this is requested when people has visited Canada or USA before. What your ECAS status show ?

Ok yes that is what I was talking about. Ok so when you will see In Process or Decision Made that will mean that you will have news soon ! :)

Thanks everyone for your advice!! I'm really hoping they don't send the package back, but I have a strong feeling that they will based on other cases I've seen on here so your comments and help are much appreciated!

And congrats guyanese24 on your hubby's anticipated arrival!! So exciting!!! :D

will I receive an email when they start working on my file?

No you won't :(

so when your status changes to "in process", where are they at in your file exactly? Have they finished going through it? Have they ruled out an interview? What more needs to happen before it goes to decision made?

It means they have started processing your file and working on it. Not everyone sees this as not all VO's update ecas. Some people get ppr without the file going in process and there have been some that have been in process for months and months.

thank you sammystorm19.

So it's not black and white is what you are saying.... The process is slightly different depending on which visa officer is working on your file.

Do you suggest being proactive to renew the police certificate or just sit tight and wait if they ask. Ours is up in April.

Ok guys so they want me to do the prints only n send it to the rcmp but they want me to get the prints digitized first i think then send off to rcmp to Canada luckily I have my consultant to help

But where in ochi do I go to get the prints on to the finger print form that pos sent me? Any one knows? Do I go to a court house or a police station, do I have to pay to get that done?

I wanna go as early as Monday, hubby flying back to t.o tomorrow, cried my eyes out yesterday n a little today, I miss him like mad already

If you haven't had ppr by then, the. Yes redo it and send it to Kingston.

Is it 4 or 8 immigration pictures that is needed?
