You are correct, coG, police certificates are now valid for only 9 months; however, I don't know when this started. My hubby re-did his police certificate earlier this year and it is valid for twelve months.

Further to this, it is up to KG if they want you to re-do your police certificate. It's not like your passport or medical that must be valid when you land in Canada. KG may or may not request another police certificate from you. To be on the safe side and to ensure there is no unwanted or additional time added to the processing of your application you can always choose to get it done again.
Is it Kingston's or CIC's new policy that the police check is valid for 9 months ? ? ?

Are u the difficult child Ninirae??? :) LOL

I believe it only changed recently to 9 months, so if yours says nothing, then you can assume that it is valid for 12 months. YAY!!

YES! I believe I am at this point... everything everyone seems to talk about doesn't seem to happen to me.

Like logging into CIC with the immigration number for my hubby... I couldn't do that right up until a couple of weeks ago!!! It kept saying that there is no such file, blah blah blah... and now it's there (finally)

That would be the Jamaican police force that enforces that policy of 9 months.

Yes, more money being taken out of our pockets for this process and being pumped into the Jamaican economy. Everyone wants a piece of the pie...

Kingston needs to process faster or they need to request medicals and police certificates when they truly are going to look at them. We shouldn't have to pay for these requirements two or three times because our applications are sitting in the queue for a year or longer and documents are expiring... ::)

WOF thanks for sharing the wonderful news with us. Tell your daughter thank you and she's a huge part of this family.

Congrats JFILWC

Amen sister! I remember when medicals were not required until your file was assigned and being looked at. You were to not send them in until told and if they were not received within (I think it was 30 or 45 days), you would be set aside for an extended period. It was crazy, but made sense.

Congrats to all of those who have heard news from Kingston!
Exciting to see some movement on this forum. May Kingston flood this forum with good news and unite many loved ones for the holidays!!

It's quiet today... I think we are having a rough time this time of year... for everyone.... But just remember that your time will come to share a landing story!!! Keep the faith!!!

What are people's thoughts on immigration lawyers?

Hey everyone!

I'm completing the immigration papers now to file for my husband..and I have a question - do I really need to get the Option C printout?

Can I provide my paystubs and employment letter ...the printout is taking so long and I wanted to submit the papers asap!

Thanks ladies :)

You need an option C print out. They will send your file back if you don't include it. You get that from CRA (Canada Revenue Agency). You have to call in and request it.

Me and my husband payed the fees to have a lawyer handle our case. I dont think there is any real benefit but we had peace of mind knowing that our application was completed correctly and we had enough documentation to prove our relationship. I now get more/better advice from the forum than my lawyer! I'm sorry i didn't get to post yesterday but i'm sending you my positive vibes today mrs. carm :) This process is extremely difficult and it is easy to get discouraged after months of no communication, but i'm sure you and your hubby will make it through stronger than ever. So keep the faith and remind your husband that a wife as amazing as you, doesn't come cheap and requires a little additional effort :D

Simply don't hire a lawyer he has done nothing for us. Thanks to this forum I have learnt so much I'm greatful for it. Thank you everyone.
