Good morning Chickie, Danielle, Nev and Waiting!

Looking forward to a lot of activity on the forum this week! PPR calls all around!!!

In the meantime... I have a question for you guys

What's your opinion on name changes? I am going to be changing my name after we get married in November. Do you think it really gets you any bonus points for the marriage being genuine? Or it's not worth delaying the application by a few weeks to get the name change done first?

I know I could always send in the application with my maiden name and then send a change of name, but I don't want to delay anything by emailing them with updates either.

I have been married for over 2 years and I just changed my name last month. The only reason being is just before I was married I JUST renewed my passport. The Scottish in me didn't want to change my name so I would have to pay for another passport so soon.

I JUST recently found out that you can change a all your documents and not your passport as long as you travel in your maiden name. My husband was happy to hear this and that I finally changed my name after 2 years.

I havent submitted this to CIC yet. I'm not sure how. Take a picture of my DL. AND HEALTH CARD?

......I did the other docs and not the passport yet as well, until it is ready for renewal. You can photocopy and scan your other id and send via e-mail to Kingston.

Nev do you know the time span in which ecas would update your status to medical received or if Kingston even send us a AOR?

I'm not sure when they update your ecas to medicals received. The first time I checked ecas was about 5 months after I applied and it was on there.

KG doesn't send out AOR's. You can send them an email to confirm they received your application.

I don't know how long it took. I never accessed ecas until Aug 2012. For all I know it could have been there for months.

Honestly, it's best not to think things are going to move quickly in this process. It will drive you mad. And if you do get through in less than 20 months then consider yourself fortunate.

I sent kingston an email on August 8th regarding my husbands expired medical. They have yet to get back to me. Their policy is to answer emails within 5-10 business days. Maybe my math is wrong but I think their time is up

Hubby did the same and they haven't answered him yet either.

You can always try sending KG a follow up email.

I sent them an email in Dec or Jan asking if my hubby should read-do his police cert. and medicals because they had expired. I didn't get a response so I emailed them a month later and they told me they requested an extension on the medical and to re-do the police cert.

I thought kingston wud be on the ball this morning i mean the strike is over..They need to start calling for PPR's they are making this process so unbearable i think they can do much better than this..they say they processing based on date so why so many ppl from 2012 not hearing anything from them..

I think they need to employ someone for just reading emails

Someone told my hubby that Kingston processes by last name in alphabetical order!!!! Now I really have heard everything!!!!!! Obviously this isn't true but if it is then we're changing our last name to A.

Hello all. I couldn't wait any longer after waiting almost two moths to find out if they found my husband medical. So I send them another email lastnight and just got an email back from them saying that they receive my husband medical and its now being forwarded to Canada. Am so excited. U know the best time to email them I think is sunday because its right up front come monday morning...Thank God for answered prayers

That's wonderful news! Now that gives you one less thing to worry about!

A couple of people have been successful when sending emails to KG late on Sunday. I guess they respond to the most recent emails in the inbox instead of answering them in order of receipt... :
