Hey Maddants. You made me laugh. No it's my passport that needs the stamp. Hubby is Cdn and we've been living together now for several years (lol)

Hello. I am from Canada, and my boyfriend is from Jamaica. We have decided to have a civil court wedding in a few months (In Jamaica). I wanted to know the process, cost, and things needed to do when dealing with a "court wedding". I have read the process online but so many websites are saying so many different things, to where it is becoming confusing and I do not know which ones are authentic. Thank you for your help.

I see you find us over here. I posted some answers for you on this
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/canadian-marrying-a-jamaican-t158003.0.html;msg2450454#msg2450454

And to answer your final question on that page. The price for someone to perform your weddin is not included in the cost of the marriage license. You will still need to pay for separately

Hi Chickie. Thanks for that awesome quote.I posted last night that Kgn hadn't replied to me despite sending them about two emails. Well just now I noticed they inbox me to say " Passport received and application at the final stage of process". So seems like someone was probably lurking, if they really do, never too sure what's going on with them, and am very grateful for the response and will continue to wait. I didn't realise there were 6 other passports to be returned. Wow.

I just want to clearify that my husbands passport is not waiting to be returned they never asked for it yet, our file on te cic site finally says decision made not aure what to expect next..

I am wondering if DM without PPR means PP will be returned very quickly - like in 2 weeks unlike those where DM is made after PPR. Keep your fingers and toes crossed Trudybuff that you will get your PPR this week, if not tomorrow!

"Effective Monday, in order to persuade the Government that binding arbitration remains the responsible way forward to resolve our dispute, PAFSO members will withdraw all services until further notice at Canada's fifteen largest visa processing centres abroad: Abu Dhabi, Ankara, Beijing, Cairo, Delhi/Chandigarh, Hong Kong, London, Manila, Mexico City, Moscow, Paris, Riyadh, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai."

As you can see Kgn VO is not included.

You need to use his application number (starts with a F) and enter his information. Under your login info you will only see decision made. thats for sponsorship approval and that his application was received. This may be updated if they choose to do so. Some people never see anything updated besides Medicals received and decision made on his side once the passport is requested.

I don't use the UCI number when logging into his account?

hey there Kmah i was going to do my wedding at the RGD office in santa cruz, st. elizabeth. when i check out everything and talk to the marriage officer and all...he was a good friend of mines so he explain to everything to me on how it work. so he said he could marry me at his church for the same price and he look about everything for me and my wife.....i arrange everything before my wife came to jamaica and only thing she had to do was just come in and talk to the pastor that was going to marry me and that all.....lol

Maddants you sound exactly like my husband! We got married in Santa Cruz and he arranged everything so I just showed up and walked down the isle. @Kmah, I would strongly recommend having family there (if you can) and lots of pictures

Congratulations and wish you both a long and loving life together :)

Well received the classic "we have received you application and it is in process" email today, so that pretty much seems to mean absolutely nothing as I have read from previous members. The waiting is awful for sure.

hey there Usually while your file is in Canada they record that medicals received before it goes down to your VO maybe someone never updated it at cic in Mississauga and that is what they are inquiring about? Or my second thought is maybe your medicals are expired or soon to be and there sent to Canada for an extension. I am not really sure of your situation sorry what does it say when u log onto Ecas? Mine used to say app received, medicals received and that was from after my sponsor approval in Mississauga. Are your medicals expired?

thank u for letting me know lol I asked in a message a while ago but u might have missed it so I put it on the spreadsheet hoping u would see it lol I will update tomorrow. I truly can't answer why yours says DM before asking for passport I have been here over a year and never seen that before, maybe a glitch in the system we all know ecas is not reliable so who knows! Praying they ask for it this week for u!
