Just a question for applicants whose spouses have been living in Canada before.. Does every applicant have to undergo a RCMP clearance ? Or only if their name is flagged when entered in the system (ex: common name with someone with a criminal record) . My husband lived in Canada before returning to Jamaica . He was recently contacted in dec by Kingston and was told they were applying for extension for his medical. And to pay his RPRF right away. Nothing was mentioned about submitting fingerprints for RCMP . Is there a possibility he doesn't have to do one? Or is that just hopeful thinking. Thanks in advance ;)

I also read online that an immigration officer only requests extension of medical when medical is only thing pending final decision for immigration officer.. Any input on this?

I read that too so it looks promising for you! When did or will your hubby's medical expire?

I'm hoping it's good news ;) his medical expired in Nov.We received an email from kingston in dec saying there was no need to redo meds that they already applied for extension.

That's great news; it's good to hear Kingston was in touch with you! Fingers crossed that you are nearing the finish line!

Yes he has! I have been doing lots of research and most of it says that they run the applicants name through the computer aNd if his name is "flagged" then they request fingerprints to confirm identity

ok well if your hubby spent more then 6 months in Canada and they didn't ask him for RCMP check from Canada then that makes me hopeful that they won't ask for my hubbys. Thank you!
