my Sponsor approved, application transferred to KG. I was hoping someone can tell me how long it takes in Kingston to hear some good news back? I am hoping 3 months, I have notice the processing time in Canada has dropped a lot in the last couple of weeks and I am hoping that Kingston is the same but not updated. Has any of your husband have come across from Jamaica as of yet?

We have been together since 2008 and got married Jan 2012. I sent in our application in June it was return because 1 form was changed, sent back in Sept 2012 and just got approved Nov 3, 2012. The email says it will be sent to kingston I am thinking it will be 2 week to get there. I just looking for a outline of how long I am looking at?

Welcome to the forum Carm Cnd and congratulations on your recent sponsor approval!! It's a marvelous feeling getting through phase one and moving onto phase Deux. It takes up to 2 weeks to reach the missions office in Kingston and once there your application will go into queue for processing. Depending on the circumstances surrounding your app there have been approvals as quickly as 4 months however CIC's posted time frame shows 16 months which means that is the allowable standard time for them to complete it. Very few have had to wait so long so don't be discouraged as it is only a benchmark though a very long one!

Do stick and stay, get comfy and ask as many questions as you'd like to. We will all do our best to answer your questions.

There were quite a few applicants around this exact time last year that got through very quickly however it's no guarantee. You had asked about possible timelines and I wanted to give you the most accurate info possible from the shortest to the longest.

Hey Carm,

Here is some trivia facts about timelines within our forum :

1. Currently, we have 30 actively posting applicants
2. We have 9 applicants waiting who applied in 2011
3. 14 of our applicants have passed the 6 month waiting mark
4. Since July 1, 2012, Kingston has approved 6 members from our group (they have been slow )
5. The member who has been waiting the longest has been waiting for 19 months
6. There were 10 applicants who applied in Nov, Dec, or Jan 2012 that got approved in 6 months or less!!!

One thing to remember, as difficult as it is not to, try to not compare with others as all cases are different.
We all try to figure out Kingston, and after time they do seem to present a pattern, but then it seems as soon as we figure that out, they change it. Senior members are good people to ask about experiences. Good luck to you and all the rest in the process.

Nevaeha, I'm sure you're counting down the days to December and feeling the excitement of Christmas in the Carribean with hubbie. Make sure you send some sunshine our way as your sunbask on 7 mile beach! Eat lots, dance lots and just live in the moment.

Thank you for your well wishes Halfmoon! This will be the first Christmas we are spending together and I can't wait to celebrate it Jamaican style with the love of my life. I adore Christmas and it brings happy tears to my eyes knowing I will be with hubby during my favorite time of year. *sigh*

I hope Kingston acts like Santa and delivers husbands (and wives) from Jamaica to Canada for Christmas!!!!! Come on Kingston, make the most wonderful time of year even more special for the people on this forum!!!!!! It's time to reunite loved ones!!!!

Nevaeha if you decide to trek off the beaten path, visit Half Moon beach on your way into Negril. It's quiet, secluded and really beautiful and where hubbie proposed to me.

Also, if you want to have dinner by candle light and see the most amazing sunset in Negril, my good Canadian friends who own Tensing Pen by the west end cliffs will create the most romantic ambience for you and yours. You can check out their website.

BUT I am sure your hubbie has it covered on "things to do" for a very merry Christmas
