Evening family,

2012 will be the first year I have to file taxes with CRA as a spouse. Can someone please explain what I need to get from hubby to satisfy CRA? And does it matter if his income is below a certain amount?

good evening ladies,

It amazes me how many of us are going through the same process. Just another question of many I have already had :D .... If I look at the processing time they are so different. I wonder if they pick through the applications and push through the ones that are less complicated situations then others? and also I'm interested in where everyone's spouse is in Jamaica? If they are in the country or Kingston? I actually had a friend go through this process in 2008. They told her a minimum of 12month waiting period. She sent in the application in may was approved to sponsor in june and her husband was approve for PR in august by far the fastest I've heard of but in that situation they were together for 3 years prior no kids both had good jobs(but for spousal they say income is exempt?) So it was a pretty straight forward case and I wonder because of the situation thats why it got pushed through so quickly?

It's not just KGN, I suspect CIC just has it out for everyone this year. POS sent our PPR via snail mail, delaying it a whole month, despite us practically begging them to forward the letter to us by email. Now they're holding on to my husband's passport for God only knows what reason. Ecas has been completely updated to decision made for over a week now, and they still won't send it back! They made another forum member redo their FBI certificate, which does not expire for another 3 months. Reason? "random quality control". Yet another member got her package returned, only to find there was no passport in it.

My theory is that with all the closures and crap that has been going down in CIC this year, the workers are fed up, don't care anymore, and are taking it out on the applicants.

Best of luck to everyone here, don't let CIC break you down! You will get through this and you will have the last laugh!

Thanks for the warm welcomes :D I hope I am able to help someone eventually too. Just to add, we haven't filed a PR app yet. Just trying to decide if we should attempt TRV first or not. If we do, do you guys think we should put down that we are married? Or should he say he's going to visit someone else in my family maybe so they won't know his wife lives here? Will they know that we are married already? And it sounds like TRV is so hard to get approved for, but the CIC website says their approval rate is 80%... don't know what to do...
;D Thanks again for the support. I hope everyone has a good evening. ;D

in my oppion i think its best if you do the sponsorhip and avoid the vistors , my husband tried to get a visitors when his grandfather pasted away to come to his funeral and they turned him down telling that they believe his reason for coming to canada is to see me not for the funeral ( trust this imigration thing is messed up)might as well try doing it there way and pray that it all works out quick times .... thoughts and prayers are for all... as for the meds recieved for some and nothing for others ...it's kgn and cic they are unpredicable and just because there are no updates does not mean they are not working on your file problay go a vo who is too lazy to update the system ... good luck

Welcome welcome to all newcomers wow we have lots of new people now sooo cool!

Well my hubby is near the Maypen area, that is not where he is from but where he is staying. Where is your hubby in JA?

WOW on the 3 months to get her hubby here, that I have never heard of but a few have been getting thru in 5 to 6 months. It really depends on your situation on long you will have to wait, different factors make the waits longer ie, children, if he travelled before, criminal record etc.... Just hope and pray, that is about all we do here and everyone here is great and helpful and we all help each other thru this process.

Blessings

Morning! How nice to see everyone up late last night, LOL.

Nevaeha, for tax returns I sent my husband a copy of my Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) card, and my P24 for the year from my employer. A P24 is a Statement of Income and Tax Deducted, if your husband is employed his employer provides him with one at the end of the year. If he changed jobs during the year, or was only working part of the year, he gets a P45, which is a Statement of Income for Leaving Employee. It states his income up to the time he left the job and how much tax was deducted up to that time, it comes in 3 parts, two of which would go to any new employer he has during the year and the third part is for him to keep for his records. (How nice to be using my Jamaican Tax knowledge again, haha).

Whatever you get from him, translate the figures to Canadian dollars using the year-end conversion rate from Bank of Jamaica. CRA has their own conversion tables in a booklet, you can use that if you have one.

Melissa123, only God and KG knows how their timing works. Yes, they do push through some applications quickly, especially if the spouses have been together for awhile, have no children, the Jamaican has never traveled, hasn't moved around a lot, all of these things can make a file move faster. On the other hand, you have folks (like me), who have traveled a lot, moved around Jamaica a lot, and where the circumstances of how we met our spouses can cause red flags to pop up (we met online, married first time we saw each other, LOL) and these will take awhile longer. In the end, all we can do is wait on KG and keep our marriages afloat in the meanwhile.

Kristy0519, while it is entirely up to you to apply for the TRV, I agree that you might want to just bypass it and apply for your husband's PR. DO NOT, whatever you do, misrepresent his situation by not including information about him being married to you. CIC takes a VERY dim view of failure to mention such important facts. Your husband could be denied his PR and banned from trying to enter Canada for two years, just because of that.

Daddy's Girl, trust me, don't worry about eCAS updates. KG adds whatever they want in there, whenever. I NEVER saw "medicals received" on my eCAS, or "Decision Made" on the PR side. I went from Application Received to In Process to Landed without either of those milestones. eCAS is unreliable, it is not gospel and it will only mad you to compare your status to that of others.

RFMO, you are ready for KG and their nonsense. It could even be that your information is exactly where it is supposed to be but they want to see the level of communication and collaboration between you and your husband, so they decide to ask you for the information again. Whatever happens, just remember you are ready for them to do their worst so you guys have no worry and no stress. Just do your thing and show them they can't hold you. 9 days to hubby, woohoo! I might be more excited than you, haha. OK, maybe not! ;)

Hubby is off to see two specialists today, I am not going with him this time and feeling separation anxiety, haha. It's only a couple hours away, but still I am so happy we are together I don't like him going off without me. Me without him is fine, him without me makes me anxious, weird. ::)

Mawnin FamJam!

Just to reiterate what my sisters here are saying... KGN loves to keep us in the dark. Take my file for example... applied in Oct 2011, sponsor approved Dec 2011 at same time added meds rec'd, and since then, a big fat NOTHING! My hubby has never left the island, never moved around on the island, has one child by me who live with me in Canada and nothing else, if our file was any straight forward we would be Adam and Eve! But yet, we wait, and his medicals expired last month, and we still wait. I have sent 3 emails, to which they have never responded. nothing NOTHING. But I'm good. I panicked around the 4-5 month mark but now I have settled in. Don't get me wrong, I want my hubby here but I can't handle the stress I cause myself so Im just cool. I have labeled this week (in my heart and my head) as MY week to get an update that we are approved, we will see, if not, then I am going to visit my hubby and come back and wait and hope for Christmas. Either way, it will happen, and its not easy, but I refuse to make it any harder for myself.

WELLLLLL seems like we have a truck load of ppl on here ....and well at least we've all got eachother...cause there is NO ONE we could tlak to about these things that have never gone thru or, or know nothing about it....we'd just feel even crazier if we were talking to anyone else who knows nothing about nothing......

Ummmmmmmmm Kingston can kiss me a**..........i went back to jamaica even BEFORE i married my man to make plans....Just brought that up cause i read charlie's situation...so that makes me feel even a lil more secure...cause if it were a rush visa! NOT saying Charlies was....but im saying IF it were to sponsor solely....i woulda jsut married him right away...but no....i maaried him 7 months after engagement...with trip to JA in between..........hope they notice tht -_-....

ummmm i havent started tripping out yet...im still holding that faith that i might hear something around my anniversary....which in that case would have made 2 months +since my files reached kingston.....

Ummmmmmmmmmmm i have no patience... on the bright side quitting smoking has allowed me to give myself other shit to think about bedises immigration.........plus ive gotten like 6 times sexier in the past 6 days.

LOL @ 6 times sexier!!

This is not an easy process, ladies, but the one thing I know is comparing your timeline to others before you, after you or same time as you will drive you mad. Obviously, we all have unique circumstances and relationships. Some of the broader details might be similar, but no two of us married the same man. Each of our times is going to be exactly what it needs to be for KG to do what it needs to do, and then the end result for all is the same: life together in Canada with our spouses. You have to focus on the big picture and the end result, because focusing on the day to day details and asking WHY really won't get us anywhere, KG is not here to answer us. They are busy working to get your spouses home to you! ;)

to add to ecas >>> on my side it went from application received str8 to decision made without the 'in process part' tht got skipped compeltely....

then once decision was made, by the following weeks on both my aide and hubby's it said: meds received, application received....and that is it..........that is it..........

SOOOOOOOO either my application in some pile somewhere......or someone looking at my pics wacking off to them....who knows.
