Ha! I no longer rely on the ecas for updates to our file. It seems to me that some of the staff are more diligent than others. After noting that KG confirmed that my hubby's application was in process yet his status on ecas still says "app received" I emailed them about the descrepancy and asked if this should be a concern. They told me "No" and again that his app. is in process. To this day they made no movement to update the status. LOL. Maybe it's a good thing for me too....because I was on that ecas 2 - 4 times a day like a junkie!! LOL...now I don't even bother looking.

Hey Faithfully! We have similar timelines...I filed close to the end of December, my file was transferred in February...I immediately saw meds recv'd & application recv'd on ecas. They told me via email in April 2012 that file was in process but ecas has never changed .....until June when they added my husband's address

A GREAT BIG HELLO TO EVERYONE!!

WELCOME HOME MR. ALICAT, SAFE JOURNIES JAMAICANSGIRL!!!!

Kingston told my MP the same thing! But I have my own opinion on that....

This is my theory.... (I know I could be wrong lol although that doesn't happen often lmao! )

I think that when ecas updates to "IN PROCESS AS OF DAY/MONTH/YEAR" that KGN as finished all their checks and your file is now in Final Review for Approval. I think that if KGN updates you via response from a case specific inquiry or via MP, and they tell you that ur file is in process, that means that it is processing in a very generic way. Yes they have your file, and yes they are processing it, and they have 16 months before they "have to" give you any answers so "don't call us, we'll call you". I have come to the conclusion that the two "in process"es are not the same. Although, we are left to assume that it is...

Did that make sense lol

Yep, makes sense! That's the way I take it too...so if anything I've been waiting to see the "in process" status with the date on ecas as that's what would really reflect to me that something if anything is happening.

4 more months will make 1 yr for me. To make it easier on us we just set our mind on the 1 yr mark (hopefully it doesn't take any longer than that) and anything sooner would be a very nice treat! I have also theorized that a certain # of approvals go through every quarter...September is next and then December...

Has anyone's spouse been successful in obtaining a visitor's visa to Canda while awaiting your permanent residence application?

I haven't tried, but I am very tempted to! The key is proving he has more reasons to be in Jamaica then to stay in Canada, all during the same time you are trying to get approved for PR by proving he has more reasons to be in Canada rather than Jamaica :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

I haven't heard of it happening for any Jamaican spouses, but it's not impossible (so I've heard, LOL). Your spouse would need to prove why they would definitely come back to Jamaica, so you would need a strong job letter detailing how much time off from work they are being allowed and when they are expected back at work to fulfill what obligations. You would need to outline all the other ties: motor vehicle, rent/mortgage, kids to register in school, etc. Basically anything that would say, "Yes, I have a spouse in Canada, but I have all these things in Jamaica that need doing, so I must come back."

Jamgirl, lhnb do u know why it took so long for ur spouse address to be added...I'm asking because my husbands address was on there since the first day we were able to sign under his name

Happy Hump Day, all!

Thanks for that Halfmoon! Guys, don't be alarmed if some of it seems outside our normal experience with KG, the steps being shown here relate largely to Skilled Worker applications, so not everything is applicable to Family Class (for example, we must submit our medicals WITH the application, Skilled Worker applicants must wait to be issued a request to do the medicals).

Hey Charlie....I understand that not everything is applicable to Family Class sponsorship, but seriously I am very worried becasue it seems no one else has ever gotten back their background form to fill out...i have used a consultant and he had previously sent one in along with the medical and police record..now they asked for the re-do of the medical and police record but why the background check...am so worried right now.. further more I had applied for a visiting visa to the USA in 2007 which was denied. and I realise that the consultant had left it out am really not sure why, now when I emailed him he says sure feel free to add anything you think might have been left off. what do I do? will they think I was previously lying if I add info now. and am afraid that my husband pays the landing fees and the I get turned down. I was so exited for the past month and now all I feeeel is dissappointment I cry a lot for the past few days.I just feel like things are going wrong. my husband thinks am being negative. one more thing the consultant says the reason they sent the form back is because the forms are changed...makes no sense to me I got back the exact form that was filled out over a year ago. no questions added none removed.

how did u sign in under your husband's name?

or to better phrase that: what is required to be able to sign in under his name??
