Morning forum family! I hope all is well with you all, despite the nail biting wait. I notice a lot of my sisters are stressed with the process and it is indeed stressful! What I did when the anxiety got the better of me and that was even sometimes in the wee hours of the night, when I thought we had left something out of our package or not hearing anything from Immigration, I came to this same forum and started reading from the beginning......I read through everyone's process, their anxiety and most importantly their victory! This gave me perspective and took my mind off my stress as reading usually does. I also believe in positive imagining, I visualize wht I want and I write it down. I know some will think " your process is finished so you can say anything", but it really helped me to not stress over the things I cannot change. AlicatShaw I feel your pain,but remember stress is a dangerous enemy that can cause so many health scares......when you are feeling this anxiety, please take deep breaths and remember this too shall pass.......same for Ananda and Jamgirl......THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

my x and i have 3 kids together....nobody has sole custody, we never went to court for nothing, we handle money and visits and all that amongst ourselves...he too born raised j'can with family abroad....

ANYHOW....if i go down to live or stay for he year until this process gets sorted though...i want to take my kids or the year down with me...and they can attend school.

would we need to go to court for that....or can me taking them out of country for a year be something again we settled between ourselves?


and now that my application has already been submitted, without mention of my idea to stay there until sponsorship is approved....well then what?

Also....in order to me to stay down there and work a real job, id need a jcan citizenship rather than a work visa....but with dual citizenship that shouldnt affect our application right?

Aww thnx so much! I believe in positive imaging too, I try to live The Secret....I try not to be selfish in my thinking. I believe this all happens for a reason. He is able to spend more time with his daughter and THAT is a good thing. Our time will come, it's almost here. You're so right about the anxiety, it's a dangerous thing. It's not a bad thing...to learn patience.

No, you would not have to go to court to bring the kids to Jamaica as long as their father drafts a letter stating he is "okay" with the kids travelling with you and the length of time, you will not have any issues. The truth is that immigration in Jamaica is not giving mothers any hacklings anyway, it's more to cover yourself.

As long, as they can contact you via email and you are having someone check your voicemail and mail for correspondence they will not have issue with you being in Jamaica.

I do not believe you need a J'can citizenship, I believe you could apply for an marriage extension.

Last piece of advice coming from someone whose process took 18+ months, hang in there and nah mek Kingston or your MMP forget your name.

Good Mawnin Forum Fam!!

Just wanted to say I had a great evening last night. Lostwithoutu and I had another link up and this time we just hung out at my place and enjoyed a good ol Canadian BBQ, lol. After, I had time to reflect on what Charlie said about my MP's response. I have to say when I initially read what Charlie wrote, I saw that "6 months" at the end and panic set in, I didn't focus on the beginning of what she told me. I have re-read it now, and if I am correct in my understanding, the initial assessment was our selection process? So we have passed this stage and are now in background checks, which I am praying don't take long as hubby as lived in the same house since age of 18, never left the island, and has only had 2 employers... also has no criminal record. So, I am choosing to be optimistic at this point . Is it safe to assume that maybe Charlies took 6 months because she has traveled off the island and possibly ours won't take as long? Regardless, I am not setting myself up for disappointment again. We are processing and I am happy for it!

@ ANADA - the information that LSSO gave you is correct. I just wanted to add, the letters that you and your baby-father write, are important for when you re-enter Canada. I have never tried to enter Jamaica with my children for longer than 3 weeks so I am not entirely sure of the documents needed to do this. I have looked up info on attaining my Jamaican citizenship. As spouses we do have the right to apply, but all info I read says it can take up to a year to receive it. I know it is possible to apply for an extension past the 12 weeks when visiting so maybe that is a quicker more efficient route to go for your plan.
