Just wanted you all to know that reading these threads have been very helpful. I am in the same situation as everyone else but have not started my process yet. My husband in Jamaica wants to wait a bit. 1. How long after we are married should we wait to start the sponsorship? 2. Does the fact that we lived together all of last year and got married help proof the how genuine our marriage is? 3. Does the fact that he is well educated (law) and have visited Canada helps? 4. He already has a visitors visa, does he get brownie points? Any advise would surely help. Thx

You don't have to wait any amount of time to apply you can do that as soon as you get the marriage certificate.

I see that everyone's process has taken just about a year, I'm hoping with the new policies implemented by the Liberal party, that gets decreased to 6 months.

For India, waiting period prior to liberal was 17 months.
After Liberal tookover, its 19 months..........!!!!!!!!!!

Really I've seen ppl from India get through in like 4-6 months it's very rare that it actually takes more than a year.
