Good morning!!

Well...i saw someone post this on another forum. It seems to explain whats going on.

"While exploring various forums, I discovered that the processing of federal class is taking longer not due to the Student Visa applications. As processing of Student Visa's is done by different unit not economic unit. The reasons of delay is re-posting of staff around the world in month of August and September and the Immigration year end in September. The Minister will present his report to Parliament in this session and a new targets for Visa will be issued. Therefore, we should see some activity from all the local visa offices from next month."

I dont know where he got the information from but I know the Kingston office had advised that they were implementing a new processing tool and had stopped accepting application for Temporary Resident Visa.

Its no secret that Kingston is one of the offices that were short staffed so I'm guessing they deployed some officers to Kingston and they are now in the process of training them..

well, lets look to see how this works out...

Jammy: Hoping you see that letter this morning

Good morning everyone :) Here's to hoping that everyone waiting a good while hears something positive this week.

Rainy weather is great :D That's all I have to say ;)

Thanks for that post, sheraig. Maybe KG will see some movement if they were affected by those things and measures were taken to change the situation, we can all hope.

Take care all!

Well the last week of sept,2010. Lets hope that Oct is a much more productive month for us all.
Sheraig thanks for sharing the info and hope that more assistance is coming to KG. Well Monday so

The manager hired a new secretary. she was young, sweet, and polite. One day while taking dictation, she noticed his fly was open. While leaving the room, she courteously said, "Oh sir, did you know that your barracks door was open." He did not understand her remark, but later on happened to look down and saw that his zipper was open. He decided to have some fun with his new employee.

Calling her in, he asked, "By the way, Miss Jones, when you saw my barracks door open this morning, did you also see a soldier standing at attention." The secretary, who was quite witty, replied, "Why, no sir, all I saw was a little disabled veteran, sitting on two duffel bags!"

hey all...

congrats GLO on the good news... so happy for you :)

i'm back at work and wasting time in a meeting... just wanted to point out that according to this independent study, the kingston office is far from understaffed.. they mention that things should go much faster because they have more than ample staff... i think it's from last year, so maybe things have changed, but from what i've seen and know from past experiences, kingston has always been an issue... maybe just because it's kingston??? :)

http://www.immigrationmanuals.ca/articles/CIC-processing-times-2009.html

hope all are well and that this week kingston breaks out of it's everlasting slump and strives for better!

take care

Thanks Chelley and welcome back. Well lets hope that the reviews may lead someone held accountable for the tremendous drop in the ranking. -4 for last year is unacceptable

Wow, Chelley, I read those articles and my jaw dropped to the floor. 25 staff members and it takes them an average of 7 months to process just 30% of their immigration applications?? That is terrible. As the first article pointed out, they serve a small area, it really shouldn't be that slow! I jokingly told my husband that maybe I should go back to my mother's Indian roots, because I see folks in New Delhi being processed in under 6 months total (from CPC-M to the visa office to PPR)!

I saw in the other article that spousal applications also have the worst processing times, in spite of claims about the importance of reuniting families. That depresses me, and makes me sad for the world we live in.

They need some kind of standard, and accountability. As someone who works to deadlines every single month, with serious financial consequences for my employer and clients if we do not turn our work out on time and accurately, I cannot imagine being able to fanny about with people's LIVES and not just numbers for extended periods of time! Shame.

Chelley...no, actually I didn't notice that. Which just goes to show that KG has no real excuse for their poor productivity. That's rubbish, really. 25 people! I work with a staff of 6 including myself. One of the things we do as accounting staff is process payrolls...and be they for 2 people or 200, we have the exact same turnaround time on them - 48 hours. No ifs, ands or buts.

I see their last internal audit was 2003. I do believe they are long over-due for one. Wonder if they want to hire me? (I do auditing too!) :p

Good Morning all

That is just crappy that KG take so damn long to process applications even though they have more staff than a lot of offices. Man they must lick a lot of dominoes in that back room.

Well folks its the last week of September and I couldn't be happier to see it go. I am worried that this rain will keep the postman form coming out. I have never been this anxious for mail in my life!

SOANXIOUS AND MISSING hope you get that phone call this week!

LOL@ Canuck

Hope you have a great day everybody

i had a discussion with a friend who works for a related government agency (not immigration, but she deals with immigration) and she said that jamaica has the unfortunate distinction of having one of the highest level of fradulent/illegal activity coming out of it... if that's true, and they are aware of it, it could mean a higher amount of internal "double checking" that goes on when it comes to immigration? dunno...

sucks regardless... 007 is a character in a movie, not the year people should be putting their lives on hold from...

hello everyone! just passing by to say hello

jammy - congrats on starting up the shred!!! I need to get started...can you come over here and kick me in the butt please lol I need a good swift kick to get me going

chelley - wow shocking! one can be patient and understanding when an office is understaffed but 25 people working there and only 30% of files being completed in 7 months....that's tragic!! there is no excuse for that...pure LAZINESS!!!

sheraig - back to the bbq idea .... they must be having a party everyday burning pages of the applications lol either that or they are giving each other manicures and pedicures

well let's see if October is a busy month.....I hope and pray to God it is!!!

I was discussing it with my husband yesterday, Chelley. And he was saying how having grown up in a neighbourhood with a high concentration of Jamaican immigrants, he is not so surprised we are having so much trouble now. He says far too many people abused the system when it was freer, so now others are paying the price by needing to go through some stringent checks. It's a shame...that we not only wreck opportunities we have been given, we wreck them for others as well.

Bwoy...Jamaica land I love...but some ah di people dem!
