atclarke - CONGRATS! I am glad someone on this forum is seeing progress before the year mark. Makes me hopeful I will see something soon as well (our timelines are only days apart).

In terms of you getting preferential treatment, I think everyone on here would agree that we would do just about anything to get our significant others here as quickly as possible. You going to two different MPs and forcing someone to help you and perhaps pull a few strings is just proof positive of your devotion to your family and I applaud you for that. Good work lady!

To everyone else, this process is beyond flawed. I read a "policy statement" that says the govt is committed to reuniting families and that they work towards a 6 month process approval timeline. I laughed out loud. Kingston seems to be the worst but very few places have 6 month wait times. It does seem right now that Chris ALexander is shortening wait times but we are still trapped in a ridiculous process. Changes are seriously needed and I plan to spend a lot of timing grilling my MP and candidates in the next election to make sure I am voting for the right party. I suggest you all do the same and that we take our frustrations out on the system and not those of us who are all victims of the system.

I agree, as happy as I am when someone gets through, when its only been a few months and someone gets movement early for just the reason of being pregnant it, its very hard to not be upset, since we've been waiting almost 17 months and still waiting for ppr. Especially when I have to comfort my 2 almost 3 year old several times a day because he misses his father. I don't think it's a reason to be put ahead of everyone.
I understand and i truly sympathize but i've read on here before where other members seeked the assistance of their MP and nothing happen. Like me, i think she was just lucky but we are not home as yet because we all know a file can be 'in process' for weeks or months.
Congrats Mrs. Parkin wishing hubby a safe journey

Thank you so much petal!! Congrats to you too!!! Hope you aren't feeling guilty or discouraged - you should be jumping for joy and we are all happy for you, it should give people hope that their turn is RIGHT around the corner. It's never easy when you've been waiting and someone passes you, but man when that time comes and you start seeing movement on your file - there is nothing sweeter, so cherish it! that time is coming for all of our wonderful JamFam!

Good morning Jamfam, atclarke and I have the same time line, so I really don't think her MP had anything to do with her file reaching in process so quickly. I live in Kingston, I did not pay anyone nor contact anyone in an attempt to fast track my file. I have been visiting my hubby in Canada since 2010, sometimes 3 or 4 times each year, its very expwnsive, hence im overjoy our file is being worked on. I sympathize with those persons who applied before me and have not gotten through as yet, but im postive you will hear something shortly. Please remember also that many of thw VO in the Kingston office are Canadians.
Charlyn did you send all documents and payments in all at once? That is what our consultant advised us to do to fast track it. So far we are still on

We received your application for permanent residence on May 26, 2014.

Medical results have been received.

Is that progress or just standard?

atclarke and Charlyn42:

Congrats on the ECAS change to "In Process" !!! What an amazing feeling it must be to see something different when you log on!

There has been lots of good discussion on here about the process and why some get through faster than others. I'm not really sure why anyone is surprised when someone gets through faster (or sees movement before someone else). A quick look at the spreadsheet will confirm that nothing is fair in this process and applications have never EVER been handled in order of receipt.

Am I a little jealous that my application has not gone in process yet? Hell yeah. Am I surprised? Hell no. There are soooo many variables and we will never really know what goes on behind the scenes.

As others have said it really is a lottery. And the problem is, that nothing is consistent. Some have contacted their MPs and actually been subjected to an even longer wait as the VO thought they were trying to fast track their application. It's all a gamble... What works for some will backfire horribly for others.

Seeing some 2014 applicants go "in process" is a really positive sign as it shows that maybe, just maybe, the overall processing times are going to speed up.

Just knowing that someone from 2014 is seeing movement makes me really REALLY happy and gives me hope that my lottery number might be up next! Anything is possible and I prefer to have hope rather than spend my time wondering why her and not me??

Let's go Kingston....... Make some more wishes come true before the end of this week. More "in process" and more PPRs please !!!

Hey people... so I'm confused. (again haha) mine just went into process Nov 7 2014 but I applied for him beginning of September 2013.. and they are doing some that have only sent this year? Wow.. ya that is a little unfair. That does definitely suck.
Also, if you have already paid the permanent resident fee already in beginning does that speed up processing? Is that what they meant by "speeding up" when they said if you pay it all together it will go faster? Or am I just confused again lol

Hey everyone that's seeing movement before the one year mark, please don't think we are picking on you, because that is not our intention. We actually like to hear of ALL timelines, because it gives us something to compare to :) But we also like to piss and moan because that's how we roll! We are SUPER happy for you and a big CONGRATS... but our oldies want news too... :( lol <3

Yeah it does suck that some people have to wait longer than others. It isn't far at all and very messed up... when I contacted the MPs it didn't even have to do with our sponsorship. I wanted answers to the denied visas and why my husband couldn't come here to visit just for the birth. Ugh I really dislike how the system works!

Ok thanks.. and does anyone know then if "in process" goes faster if you've already paid fees for landing already? Or does that have anything to do with it?

Hello Ofia...welcome! Before we can answer your questions we have a few ofr you which will help answer yours. Where did you get the "decision has been made office will contact you" from? Which Visa office did you apply to (i.e. kingston, port of spain, etc)? Did you sponsor someone or are you the person being sponsored? Did you have an interview? From what you have said you received it looks like they have made a decision on your file and you will hear from someone soon by email, phone or regular mail. Did they not request a passport or additional documents? Keep checking the mail both yours and your spouse. Keep us posted!
