Good morning ladies and gentlemen.
I got a question that's been on my mind for a bit.
Based on what I've read here, there are some people who needed to request a police check through the RCMP. I suspect that these are spouses that used to reside in Canada.
I recall that while my wife and I were preparing our application, it asked for police records for countries I had lived in for more than 6 months. I had resided in Canada continuously for more than that period. So my wife had called CIC and asked about that and they said that the office would conduct the checks themselves. However, based on the experience of some of you on this forum that I've read, it would appear that you/spouse were required to do the fingerprints and send them to the office that was processing your apps which then forwarded them to the RCMP to conduct the checks.
These RCMP checks appear to take months from what I've read here, which further adds to this already lengthy process. I'm of the view that we'd all like to avoid that if possible. Now, my question is, since I'm a May 2014 applicant and I didn't do the police check for Canada because I was told that the office would do it for me; is it possible for me to go ahead and have my fingerprints done and send it to the RCMP myself and then ask them to send the results to the Kingston office? Also, when my wife gives birth in the coming days do I update CIC about the birth of our baby who will be born in Canada, as well as with a general update of our relationship (pictures, details of trips etc)?
Sorry for the long message, I'm so not a concise writer.
Thanks a lot for all your incoming advice
