Sooo here goes as promised. I want you all to know how grateful I am to those who have taken the time out of your day these past 7 months, who have shared their friendship, experiences, knowledge, inspiration, support, and now happiness in celebrating the last days of my immigration journey.

We have had good times and a few bad ones but what I've learned is that despite the mighty ups and downs, we have bonded by a common thread that has held and will continue to keep this group together; immigration. No matter our backgrounds, race, culture, sex, age, jobs, we here all have one main objective and that is to be reunited with our soul mates.

For the sponsors, all of us have flown repeatedly across the warm waters of the carribean sea to a breath taking island called Jamaica. We have exhausted every last vacation day, have stayed up on the phone til the sun came up, ran up our credit cards all for what? For the sake of Love....to be with the one person we are so CRAZY in love with. Isn't it crazy when GOD brought you both together that there was NOTHING unmistakeable about the face of LOVE? Wow......I have never met anyone of you in person but I admire each one of you for going through this process; your strength, your faith and your RESLIENCE to endure some of the most difficult days of your life you'll ever experience. That's what it's all about, to ENDURE, ENDURE, and ENDURE. Endurance to me is the distance and time in how long your can withstand the challenges of anything from the start to the very end without giving up or quitting.

Nothing good comes easy. That has been my mantra. I have never liked anything that came easy in my life and perhaps thats why I knew from the beginning, I could do it hence why God gave me the challenge. LOL. Boy was I in for a MASSIVE surprise!!! Though as equally important, He gave me somebody worthy of my ENDURANCE. This applies to all of you here whether you're the sponsor or the applicant.

I will never forget the day I met my husband. I was vacationing in Jamaica with my then EX of 9 years (on and off). The sun was setting in the beautiful west end cliffs of Negril and I was sitting on a ledge dangling my feet about 30 feet above the turquoise blue waters. In that very moment, I started talking to God. With tears rolling down my eyes, I asked him for my future husband. Told him I was ready and wished he would just introduce him to me already. LOL. I felt stuck because I was in a dead end relationship with EX and didn't know how to walk away without hurting him. But I realized that by staying, I was keeping us both from finding true happiness. That same day, I ended things with my ex and went to dinner......alone. Guess what happens next?? Just guess........

Here comes along my now very chattery, loveable, adorable and handsome husband. I was really annoyed because I was NOT in the mood to socialize, I wanted to be in a corner all night......ALONE! BUT, as much as I showed little interest in talking to him, he chatted away and chatted away and............chatted away. About what? About how lucky he was and that anything he ever asked for in life, he got. The nerve of this guy right? Like who does he think he is? What a nerd. Just leave me alone chatter box. But then after I left the restaurant and went back to my hotel room, something magical happened I couldn't wait to get dolled up, perfumed up, lip-glossed up and run back to see him!!!!!! My best friend, my everything. The rest is history :)

Now fast forward over 2 years later.....Jan 28, hubbie gets a passport request call. Our dream has finally come true. Our love has kept us glued and we have made Digicel $3,000 richer!

PS
Hubbie told me on our wedding day, didn't I tell you I was a lucky man? I told God the moment I laid eyes on you that you would one day be my wife.

Isn't it funny, we both asked God for each other on the same day?

Good afternoon everyone,

It has been awhile since I've been one here. Happy New Year to everyone!

Congratulations to all the families that have and are close to being reunited.

Question what is the difference between the electronic and physical GCMS notes? Is the same information included just a different format?

Thanks for your help.

Wow! I must be suffering from PMS today. This is meant to be funny and I am all about the jokes. But for some reason the comical side of me is suffering from "I cant laugh syndrome" Who is the Auther? Perhaps this will give me some perspective and perhaps appreciation for the joke. As a Jamaican I find it extremely offensive. As a wife of a Jamaican man outright disrespectful. From coast to coast we have some colourful Jamaican man but I feel this "joke" is written by a woman scorned. It is so clear.

#1 aggregious remark

It is quite likely that he really doesn’t like you that much and only hooked up with you to get a visa or green card. The sex you had before he got the visa was payment for helping him to get out, any sex you get after that could be considered a tip[/u][/b][/size]. Now, NOT all men in Montego Bay will use a woman just for a visa.

All men from Clarendon do not indulge in Obeah, Not all "poor" man is uncultured, not all ghetto man need bounty killer to set his mood. Ladies we have to be careful how we choose to view our men and the class/environment they hail from or we will be in big trouble. My husband surprised me in a good way. He hails from Clarendon and does not work obeah. He is a man deeply connected to the earth.(with 13 acres to roam every day). I could not imagine him living in a condo. I also could not imagine him getting around the city without my help for a long time. On February 6 will be his 1 year anniversay of coming to Canada and he continues to surprise me. He is telling the shorter way of getting to certain places. I underestimated him...women dont do this to your man. Jamaican men are quite resourceful and fill with pleasant surprises.

He is also a Rasta man.. not the ignorant person the writer speaks about.( Rich men in jamaica cuss bombocloth too. The article or "joke" sounds like the author tried to force the North American ideologies on this man and tried to get him to forget his values. He may have been willing to go to Euro_America to be with the love of his life...setting aside any prejudice he may have. Ladies because your man is willing to give up all he knows to be with you, this does not mean you are going to be able to erase his identity. Love him for all his quirky way, inexposure, habits and by no means attach any sterotypical ideas on him or you will find yourself going through some serious "adjustment issues" Believe me this is the fun time. I promised Halfmoon a while back to tell her about the challenges of adjustment but never got around to it. I didnt forget but because I love my man and would not want anything to be misunderstood I waited to share such personal stories. You will all have, find out some thing you never knew before. No one here can tell me that when you go home to see hunny somethings dont come up to cause at least one blow up.. maybe not from him. Well if this has not happened yet well it will.

Most offensive/outright disrespecful statement

Is he a bonafide weed-smoking, daily-meditating, Haile-Selassie-chanting, Rastaman who refers to you as his ‘empress’? Then the source of the problem is clear. Did you ask him if he could use any other part of his body beside his penis when making love to you? Did you ask for foreplay? This could have gotten him quite crossed (he might have used the word ‘bringle’ but it means the same.) Apologize for what you have done, take him to a river to wash his locks, and go home and cook him something ital (e.g. steam fish with lime juice – no salt.) Gradually expose him to t.v., take him to the movies and introduce him to other devices that could subtly communicate to him what the modern world is like and what people are doing in relationships. Whatever you do, don’t rush him. If he says ‘fire!’ or ‘bloodclaat babylon system!’ to anything you’ve suggested, leave him alone and do not raise the issue again for a few months.

Where is the respect for a rastaman spiritual awareness. Not all rastaman smokes weed... not that I wish to pass any negative vibes if those who do. This is a matter of preference or freedom.

Take him to the river to wash his locks sounds like a condensending remark. A typical rasta man has deep insight into the things that modern inventions uses to destroy our lives and environment. Perhaps this may be funny but it also set up a type of internal dialogue which may be problematic if we start to see these issues with out men as problems and feel as women we must fix them. You know what is often said as a joke often has the truth at its roots. We are blessed to have met men from varing background, culture and fell in love with them because they were different from the men we encountered in our past.... men that some of us were too glad to escape. Please, do not then try to make them into those same men. All I am saying is although it is meant to be a joke.. this one was a bit hard to swallow. If you decide to cuss me or be sarcastic in your remarks.. remember its only my opinion. I wont be responsible for the way you see my intrepretation. Sounds that our little writer married herself a man who has a brain in his head and is able to stand up for himself. Empress Frankfield signing out!

Hey Frankfield, Your opinion is certainly allowed. My intention was not to hurt anyone or make anyone mad. Hopefully you did not take it like that. The article is written by a man, who I believe is married to a jamaican woman, and may actually be jamaican himself. He no longer lives in Jamaica, he lives in Asia somehwere. Every one has a different sense of humour and I would not have posted this if I had thought it would be interpreted in that way! I found it funny, not because I believe it is correct about every man in jamaica, but because often stereotypical views can be funny. Everyone has met someone who would fit the stereotype and lots of it reminded me of someone i know. The rasta man part reminded me very much of a good friend of mine, who would tell you his slave name is Glen. Again.. didn't think it through before posting, so sorry for any hurt feelings!
