Another question is do i submit original copies of documents i.e marriage certificate etc. or just photocopies ? I really appreciate the advice ;D

Welcome lonelymrs. As Charlie said, it's really important to print off and thoroughly read the Guidelines as it provides detailed instructions and requirements in order to submit a complete application. It would be quite normal for you to end up having 4+ drafts by the time you send off the actual package!!

The guideline recommends submitting copies of marriage certificates, birth certificates, passport, etc. however if you have extra copies of your original marriage certificates, it doesn't hurt to send in an original. As for the remaining documents, send in copies.

Ok ive read thru the guide and its pretty straight forward..I will definitely be doing drafts till i perfect my app however this part is raising questions for me ........

Ur not a pain...we ALL had these questions.....just sit and relax...just take it slowly...its a bit frustrating.....ask all the questions u want.....I don't remember the amt so I'm going to let 1 of the other girls or guys inform u on that....u will get ur ansa shortly....every1 here is very helpful......

Here is the link to the country specific (Jamaica) document checklist for the PR applicant (your husband).

The set of 8 photos are NOT passport size photos (size specification is shown on Appendix B). These are called the Canada visa size photos which your husband needs to get done and submit with the application.

Additionally he has to do 6 regular passport photos (I believe 2 for police clearance, 4 for medical). Someone please correct me if this isn't accurate.

My suggestion is to call the doctor's office beforehand to get the specifics of what your husband will needs to bring in (ie...number of passport pics).

In total, 8 Canada Visa size, 6 regular passport size.

Halfmoon is correct. You need 8 photos for the application, which must follow the size requirements in Appendix B. He needs 4 passport sized photos for his medical, and 2 passport sized for his police certificates. Total of 14 photos.

Hey guys I've been directed by some lovely ladies to join this forum ! I definitely do have some questions that maybe someone can shine some light on....I been with my husband for just over a year and half and we got married in May of this year,I'm about to start working on his paper work... He currently is in Kingston and me in ontario ! Now here are some questions i have .....

1) What gets submitted 1st
2) Do i have to have his portion of the completed paper work to submit with mine or does he do that from there ?

I'm so confused !!! HELP LOL im hoping to start the process in the beginning of January so i need to know exactly what to do, I really want this to go as smoothly as possible for us ....We did apply for a TRV in April and he was declined they said the reason was they were uncertain he'd return to JA due to not enough ties listed to bring him back so they were'nt satisfied.....So im just a little discouraged from that ,I travel back and forth from Toronto to Jamaica about every 6 weeks ! It gets pretty costly but well worth it and we're both ready for it to be done with and hopefully be able to start our married life in one spot ...If anyone could help that would be amazing thanks i'll be waiting to hear any feedback ;D

I am not married yet (March....can't wait!), but I've started reading through all the guides and everyone here is so helpful with all my questions, I feel like by the time I am married, our applications will be ready to go. I to travel back and forth every 6 weeks from TO to JA.....and yep, expensive, but so worth it to see him that often! I leave again on Jan 3.....counting down the days! Hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Charlie i have a question for you since you said something in a prior post that got me thinking.....I read before that I didn't have to send in a police check for Canada as Kingston would ask for that on their own. The other night I was looking for that post and can't find it anywhere on the CIC website anymore. My question is: Can I go ahead and get the police check from Canada myself for my husband? and would it be the police in the city he lived or the RCMP? Thanks

Good morning everyone! Come on Kingston, let's hear some more good news before Christmas!

@ Cee keep your head up and your faith and belief strong my girl. Some days you just can't handle the pain of not hearing anything but believe that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and good things will come out of this. We have to be strong for this process....you couldn't make it thru if you weren't strong. My hardest part of this battle is when Fridays come and I haven't heard a peep and knowing that I have to wait again for 2 days in the hopes that I MIGHT hear something next week! (hence why I pretty much get drunk every Friday LMAO)
