jamgirl not sure if you have it there where you are but here in b-town there is a jamaica national and thats where we send ...hubby has a bank jamaica national account so I direct deposit it into his account ...cuts out the middle man....

moneygram is a great choice as well and the exchange rate is better than that of western union

Jamgirl I wouldn't recommend sending in your hubby's passport. When dealing with immigration in any capacity, it's important to "handle with care". It would be presumptuous to send the passport in advance of a decision being made on your application and/or request for it. It's like saying to them "Since you can't make a decision quick enough for us, I'll make it for you". Also there is the added risk that they would not be responsible for the safekeeping of your document.

Thank you for your help and information with Moneygram...

A few months back we had a discussion on here about DMPs and how much money they charge to do the medical and I had stated that my husband had to pay extra for his tattoos and we couldn't figure out why.. I just booked his apt for the med redo and specifically asked about the fees and they told me yes, it is $1100.J for persons with tattoos. I asked why is this, and she told me that it is because they have to order a Hep B test in the bloodwork which is extra... Well now I have an explanation I thought I would share...
I also explained to her that we are doing his redos on our own and why we are choosing to do so without prompt from KGN and she agreed and said it would be fine. My husband also did try to question why we doing it without request from KGN and when I explained to him that we can wait up to a month for the form he understand and agree with me, no problem. Just thought I would throw that at there because I know many of us have had situations where our hubbys are adamant that they don't want to do things our way as "so an so" told them this, ray ray...

Now, I am gonna look back on here cuz I know the info is here somewheres, but if any one can remember or know for theyselves... where is the office in Mobay located for him to do PCC... I just remember bottom road??

Yes the police stn is on sunset Blvd across from Gloriana right before you hit Bottom rd, (Gloucester Ave)...easy to find, just tell him to ask where the police stn is near bottom rd, and they will direct him...If he coming into bay from trelawny ends it is on the left hand side, if he coming in from hanover or negril ends it is on the right side.

Police check takes a while to come back, while medical he may have to go back twice. make him do the pc now before the medical so he can get back everything one time. Then courier it all to you. They will give him the paper for you to add in the application. I suggest you photocopy it once you get it so you have proof that you sent it. I suggest if he close enough he do his medical in Ochie...this has been mentioned before, but not sure if you know...DO NOT USE THE DMP IN MOBAY FOR MEDICAL...

Hey yeah that is my hubby that don't listen and look at where it has gotten me so you do what you gotta do and don't listen to him.......women are right! LOL

As for the western union thing, I googled it to see what was up as I have to send my hubby money too and it seems that only certain ones were shut down and most of them are back up now but you can't send more the $400. It seems like they only shut the ones down in and around St James, Montego Bay from what I read. Hope that helps.

Can anyone tell me what the time frame is to use a visa once Kingston issues it? I know there is an expiry date and if it's not used by a certain time then you would have to start the immigration process/paperwork all over again. I know in most scenarios as soon as the visa is issued our significant others would be on the first plane out of JA!!!!!

Congrats Dainty!! Welcome to Canada. Here in Ontario and I'm presuming for the rest of the country, children are allowed to wear braids to school. It's quite normal.

Keep her same way how u would if she was in JA - There are no strict rules or regulations, when it comes to hair, nail polish, or attire. Unless, the school has a dress code, which most schools down here dont.


Let her keep her sense of Jcan pride and individuality - which is why i said dont try mix and blen her in. IM sure u know that already, but i see it happen too often.


Im one of those anti-perm ur kids hair kinda women!! One thing u will learn quick about foreign pitney is they have no sense of roots, matter of fact many have little sense period lol

Oh Jamgirl, how your posts about the whole Western Union fiasco made me laugh (even though it wasn't funny to you at the time)! That is the exact conversation my hubby and I would have had!!!!

I just checked the CIC website and they changed the date to August 20 for quarterly updates. Part 2 of the application for Jamaica is still 16 months... :'(
