Good morning everyone! It's Pre-Friday, my second day of the week, and 2 more days left for KG to do some more reuniting! Woot, let's GO, KG!!
LHNB - ohhh, haha, I thought your application had reached KG! No, an AOR is usually issued by the VO to the applicant to say they have received the application from CPC-M and gives an idea of typical processing time. KG has not issued one to most of the recent applicants on here. CPC-M has begun issuing emails to SOME sponsors that they have received their applications, they do not send to everyone. You are one of the lucky ones!
Welcome, Channy! Do stick and stay, you are in the right place for assistance! You don't need to read through everything, haha! In order to sponsor your husband, start by reading Leon's first post in the very first thread on this forum. It gives a very decent summary of the process. When you have done that, start reading the forms and getting an idea of what you need to answer and what documentation you need to provide. A basic breakdown would be:
1) Application forms: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
2) Fees: $1,040 to sponsor a spouse only. Add $150 for each child under 18.
3) Medical exam (varies from doctor to doctor, make appointment as one of the last things you do to prepare your application).
4) Police records (1 for every country your husband has lived in for more than 6 months, should be done no more than 3 months before you submit your application)
5) Supporting documents: proof you have a genuine relationship (photos, plane tickets, passport stamps, letters from friends and family etc)
Please note, it is highly unlikely your husband will be granted a TRV with a Canadian spouse. This route has been tried by many of us, very few have been successful, by far the majority of us were denied. Additionally, the Inland process takes 11 months for stage 1 approval plus up to an additional 8 months for stage 2. If you check out my latest update post, you will see that many cases are being processed by KG in less than 12 months, in many cases about 7-8 months! Also, if it is important for you that your husband be able to work immediately, do not go Inland, because he will be sitting around for 11 months before he can get an Open Work Permit, unless he has skills to qualify for a Labour Market Opinion from an employer.
