Hey folks,
Just thought some of you might want to know my daughter was born on December 23rd just before noon. She was born at home, with the excellent assistance of a midwife and all went wonderfully well. She's a sweet, sweet little thing, weighed 7.4 oz. My wife is amazing, I'm so very proud of her.
For those of you who discover you're pregnant and don't yet qualify for provincial health care (my wife just landed on December 4th, so doesn't qualify for 3 months, not until March 4th), I strongly encourage you to consider the services of a midwife. Here in Ontario their services are free, we only had to cover lab and ultrasound fees, under $300 total for the entire pregnancy. As we delivered at home, we avoided hospital costs as well. Of course, the latter is only possible if all goes well, if there are no complications. But honestly, it was an amazing experience and one you might want to consider. The experience was so wonderful that we wouldn't have had it any other way.
