BostonGirl. Pretty self-explanatory, i'm a girl from Boston marrying a boy from BC.
I thought it might help here so I didn't have to explane in each post/reply
that i'm an American and as such an looking for advice in that vein.

These type of posts are great, they build a sence of community and seek to unify.
We all need this as a help in our time of need. We are all missing someone and it is so hard for us all.

Mine is Boyee. I am not a boy I am a woman and I dont look like a boy either just incase someone is wondering LOL. How I got this name is kind of corny but I will share it anyways. I call my husband Beau and he could never pronouce it correctly and so he said I am going to give you femine version of beau and call you boyee. Didnt make any sense but it stuck. All of his family calls me boyee. My real name is Alberta, yah yah just like the province and NO I was not born there. LOL.. I was named after my aunt and NO she was not born there either LOL.

My name is obvious. When I was reading posts sometimes I would wonder if the poster was the foreign spouse or the Canadian, a man or a woman - which for immigration questions makes a difference - so I thought I would make it easy for people reading my posts to know.

This is awesome. Some of the names, yeah, they are obvious, but being able to say what they mean sort of gives your whole process a bit more meaning. I read these threads and sometimes wonder "what does that mean" or "am I pronouncing that correctly" because sometimes it is a bit like reading a personalized license plate.

Everything is so heavy on here... it is kind of nice to get to know everyone just a bit better.

My husband's nickname is Shy, which somehow became Shyno, and I have no idea how he became bobshyno, but that's the username he often goes by. He said it's good because it's never used, and I said that obviously bobshynoswife is never used either. So that's me, here on this forum. I wish I'd chosen something different because I don't like being called Bob. LOL.

I can't imagine how anyone reading your name would call you Bob, lol. I just assumed that your husband's full name was Bob Shyno. So I think of you as Mrs. Shyno, aka Bob Shyno's wife. My screen name is easy and lacking creativity...first name, last initial and SC is for South Carolina my birth place.

I realized afterwards that people would think I am married to Bob Shyno. LOL. His frist name is actually Olushina (pronounced Oh-loo-she-nah) the short version is Shina (she-na) but his dad called him (shy-na) making the i a long i, as a bit of a pet name. Shyna turned into Shy for a nickname and became Shyno.

As for me, I'm just Laura.

Kess is the short form of the name I go by in all the online games I play with my husband. The full name is Kesstral, a variation of kestrel that I came up with after watching a documentary on the bird.

There has been a jedi, hobbit, troll, and now a member of star fleet with that name. Yes I am a nerd

Just for fun...good idea!

I chose Justina because it was my grandma's name. She immigrated to Canada from Russia in 1924. I'm not sure how the process was back then, but I know the family had to give up a lot to come here, in return for the chance at a better future.

Now I'm sponsoring my husband!

My grandmum came from England when she was 4 years old. She married my grandfather and when he died she got a letter from immigration saying that she was having no status since my grandfather had died. I dont rmember the details but it was not a huge deal. She still got to stay since she had been here as a child. I think in those days as long as you were married it was ok and you didnt need to go through the hoops you do now.

my name comes from a nickname I gave my husband back before we started dating...in spanish, "campesino" means farmer or someone who lives in the country. I used to tease my husband and call him a "campesino", so he started calling me "campesina". it doesn't make a lot of sense I guess, but it's kind of our inside joke so it's meaningful to us. he even gave me an engraved ring with "From Your Campesino" inscribed in spanish. so it has a lot of meaning when it comes to our relationship and immigration, of course. and the J is for my first name, Jackie.
