Hello , I hope everyone is having a better situation than mine.

I have been taking summer school and planning to leave Canada to visit my loved ones in Mid August. As probably a lot of others I sent my passport to the Ottawa office and the strike happened and the processing times changed from 22 days to 87 days for paper applications. I am really devastated and cant even focus on my school work. Summer is gonna finish and the new term will start in September and I will not be ready for it cause I did not take any time off. I really want the PAFSO to get whatever they want in terms of payment equality but I want this to be resolved as soon as possible. I don't think this situation has been made "like a big deal" in the media or social networks. When Canada Post had a strike everyone went crazy till it was resolved (that year I also sent my passport to NY via Canada Post and it got stuck for 45 days and I had two weeks off summer school and lost my plane ticket).

I am just beyond sad. The calling centre asked me to speak to the Ottawa office cause its handling the application but they only have their email contact which I am sure will take weeks for me to get a response. Who can we speak to? Why they don't realize we have families and people we care about that need us and that we need to return to. Its our only time off of the year. The rest of the year we work and study.

Anyone in similar situation...please write how this has affected you. At least your voice will be heard.

Have a great day everyone. Goodluck

1. Immigration offices in Canada are staffed by members of PSAC (who are not on strike) not PAFSO
2. The processing time for TRV's in Ottawa is shown as 33 and 35 days respectively http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp
3. So it appears you were looking at Visitor extensions which go to Vegreville rather that TRVs which go to Ottawa.
4. So you can get your "knickers" out of their knot.

PMM does that mean that spousal inland applications aren't affected by the strike?

Hi we are in the same situation. I sent my TRV app online to ottawa 1st week of june. i was thinking i can receive my passport back within a month's time maximum coz it says in cic website that processing time is 24 days . Im supposed to go back home 1st week july but my passport is out of reach. it is so frustrating coz im spending these 3weeks and counting , forced to look for part time jobs since i cant go to my employer to work because i have a reliever over there (and i dont have any vacation pay--im going home since my mother is sick). 2 years ago also, i applied trv and i was also unlucky because of canada post strike... if only it is possbile to get my passport personally in ottawa, i would really go there even if there's no visa. pafso, cic call centre and pafso's "employer" are all disappointments.
