Update: Both myself and my wife received interview request with title "INVITATION TO AN INTERVIEW WITH A CITIZENSHIP OFFICIAL AND VERIFICATION OF IDENTITY/DOCUMENTS"
oin Oct 9th. also Asked for this "In order for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to continue the process of your
citizenship application, scanned copies or photos of all passport(s) and travel document(s) pages held
during your eligibility period are required. If you do not have a travel document or passport, please
provide an explanation."

Note: This time it names from Edmonton office (which is weird as we have MBSK before...)

Both has at the same time.

Do we have to take separate rooms or we can join together? We have four little kids that we may need to manage.

If you have stayed more than 3 years outside in a 5 year period starting 2016 when you soft landed then you did not meet residency requirement. Not saying that's the case for you. PR renewed does not mean PR status maintained. But I would double check. I have heard that if they renew PR then don't worry . But some others say it can be found later and one needs to give strong explanation. 2016 to 2020 sounds like you were out atleast 3 years if you landed last day of 2016 and entered first day of 2020
hmm, got it.
I learnt that residency will be checked at PR card renewal and that happend smoothly.
It will also be checked at sponsorship, which also went through. Now I have a valid PR card till 2028.

Eligibility for PR card is a rolling 5 year period. As long as one is inside Canada for 2 years within the 5 years preceding the PR card application, should be fine.

When i entered Canada in dec 2020, i underwent lot of questioning both at home country and Canada airport check-in counters. CBSA let me in after 2hrs wait. I thought that was the end of it.
I will keep the group posted with updates from the interview.

Yes, if you stay out and just make it to meet residency, they will question more for sure. All the best. Hope all clear soon. My physcial presence is pending too after language and prohibitions cleared. I was out 1.5 years after getting PR and travelled to US many times after that. So no wonder.

In my case I was in the USA for 1.5 years after my soft landing and have about 3 trips to USA and 5 trips to India. Fp still pending after 12 days of submission and lpp in progress. Do they work on lpp before background completion? Thanks

Yes i have seen one person atleast, whose LPP was done before and then background. It is not the usual sequence but it does happen. I did not have fingerprint request. I took the Us background check again while submitting for citizenship, even though i had not stayed continuously for 6 months in last 4 years.

I'm in the same boat too. I did my soft landing end of 2018 and was out for about 2.5 years and travelled to USA about 4-5 times and a couple of trips to home country too. It's been more than three weeks since my test was marked complete and I learnt that my application is in the Vancouver office. LPP is in progress.

I’ve just verified the Microsoft Teams link, and it’s the same for both of us.

The IRCC requested that we submit copies of all pages of any passports or travel documents we possess. Since we haven’t left Canada since 2011 and haven’t had any plans to travel abroad, the only passports we have are expired ones from 2015 from our home country. We had already included the first page of these expired passports in our application.

We have now submitted copies of all pages from our expired passports.

@hssrp and anyone else, your feedback would be appreciated. Is there anything specific we should prepare for before the interview in our situation?

Also, still kind of interesting that office has been change from MBSK to Edmonton...

In your case they might be interested in knowing why you did not renew your home country passport.

Other then that - https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/meeting-with-citizenship-officer.789728/post-10420661

Like @forw.jane mentioned, they would be interested to know and make sure about your passport gap as you do not have any valid passport during the full eligibility period. While it is not mandatory to have a passport, but is a bit uncommon to not have renewed the passport for 9 years so they just want to make sure. If everything checks out Ok, they will complete your LPP the same day.

Vancouver is slow for LPP, they can take a couple of months. If you have buffer days they may or may not do additional check. I travelled to US 19 times and India 4 times during pr . One travel to India was while I was in US. So they may want to verify duration, ask for passport scan. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to raise web form and submit copies proactively

So, it is an online interview ?
making it in-person gives us more opportunity to show docs, prove point etc.

Online at the same time for myself and my spouse.

Do we need to prepare something to prove that we don't have any other passports? I honestly not sure how to prove that.... We just haven't travelled outside of Canada , we have 4 little kids, only myself working, the only travel we could afford it was inside Canada , like Penticton BC .
