It can take longer than the processing time for the above reasons.
Informative list. The only point they missed is when CIC officer farts while checking an application, that application becomes Non-routine too.
You keep doing them so dirty, they ought to process your application sooner out of shame and fear of what more you'll end up saying xD
By any logical means, the definition of non routine is really pulled from there ass. If an application is ignored, wrongly processed, shoved into a VO which is also processing refugee visas....meaning any and all factors out of applicants' control......its simply labelled non routine and you are told to hang tight. And who is going to verify who made it non routine? No accountability. There was some reason that Auditor General of Canada called CIC processes completely haphazard and in chaos.
The whole process is there because citizens /sponsors do not challenge this absurd system.

Finally we have received my spouse's passport with PR Visa Sticker and COPR papers. However, the online status still says In Process for Background and Eligibility checks. Does it really take this much time to update even if the application is complete? Can we travel to Canada before the status gets updated or should we make travel plans after?

My medical was also expired on 9th october 2024 and waiting for 3rd gcms notes that I am supposed to receive on 18th october
Our application was submitted by June 1st 2023, get PPR on Sept 23rd and just received eCOPR. It really take a long time, but finally get there! Thanks everyone here for the help during this long process.
Wow...congrats Man...you are out of this rat race.
Hopefully other June applicants, like me, hear back from these nut jobs soon enough!
