Please, does anyone know if it is possible/advisable to travel to another country while waiting for passport request (CoPR)?
And after getting passport request, how long do people have to submit their passport?

Hi All,

Been eagerly waiting as well for PR (AOR 17 June 2020 CEC Inland), however I applied for my work permit extension on Jan 28, 2021 as per new public policy. Yesterday morning had a ghost update, and this morning I see my permit got approved for 1 year. @legalfalcon I believe as per new policy it should be 18 months, but I was approved only for 1 year. It looks like I have been granted BOWP. Any insights on this? I am surprised that they processed work permit in just 22 days but didn’t move PR application which is stuck at security.
Cheers!
Does your passport expire then? They renewed my hubby's open work permit 2 days ago and it expires in November when his passport expires.

Fo some applications security screening takes longer and it is not IRCC that does security screening, instead it is CBSA / CSIS and other partners.

Security screening is an opaque process with little details out there. These are good resources to refer to

I applied through getgcmsnotes from @legalfalcon post.

@ jsjagday

It's almost as good as coin toss whether you will receive your GCMS file in 30 days or if it's going to take far longer (Some/one GCMS provider has disproportionately been receiving 90 day extensions, so beware from where you request)

This is based off stats from IRCC see

CBSA on other hand has a better track; review this detailed comparison for requesting Gcms Notes from IRCC vs CBSA https://bit.ly/34nuJPu that others are quoting from

You already pass everything
No I haven’t. I’ve been stuck on eligibility recommended pass since October. Hence security hasn’t even started.

No, it doesn't expire. I have applied with a new passport however they gave only 1 year Open Work Permit. Meanwhile, its good to have your hubby's passport renewed because he should have a passport of 6 months or more validity for the officer to process the PR. Case officer might request for a new passport which might further delay the process. It's good to update them with new passport details using a web form.
