I got the update in my bank account only. No notifications in the ircc account though.

Just got an email from cic saying
"We're still working on your application"
You may not have heard from us in a little while. This is normal. Most of the progress on your application happens closer to your estimated completion date.
We send messages to your account if we need something from you. When we do that, we'll also send you an email to this address:XXXXX@gmail.com

Well, at least you heard from them. I am inland May AOR and no single GU even a glitch one
Got the email as well and I can't log in to my account. I'm AOR July 31, though. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone.
I don't think this is an any actual update
it's just an automatically email while our application is in process, and they send this email every a few months
I got this email months ago, also get this today
I am AOR jul 31st too . When did you give your biometrics? Have those been updated on your profile in the details section?
Did mine in January 2020 when activating my work permit. It hasn't changed to "completed" on my profile, last I checked.
A number of people who have been Permanent residents for months and years got the email as well. So it looks/ sounds like it was a system wide glitch that triggered it.
